While the cat’s away

January 22, 2019

The mice did play! As I said, I was out of town for work all last week and I’m not sure my crew missed me too much…they were too busy having fun! There were movies…

movie

Boy Scout meetings (that everyone got to go to, not just the boy scout!)…

scouts

and haircuts and basketball practice and even PJ day at school! Robert did a great job getting everyone up and ready in the morning…

3 kids

even if Susan did have to do Samantha’s hair everyday! ha! 🙂 While I know they had fun, I do think they were ready for me to get home. Samantha’s teary voice on Thursday night asking me if I was going to be home by dinner on Friday just about did me in. I sure was glad to see these 3 on Friday afternoon…

friday

We celebrated with pizza and ice cream and there was no place else I wanted to be!

all 3

A huge thank you to Robert and Susan for doing all the jobs so well last week! I couldn’t get by without you both!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

I sure do love these three. As I posted on Instagram on New Year’s Day, I’m excited for new adventures in 2019 but I would do 2018 all over again because I am acutely aware that these days, these ages are magical. I can’t wait to see who these kids become but I sure do love who they are right now, silly faces and all.

Anyway, back to Naples – we even shot fireworks on New Year’s Eve!

The boys picked this poop emoji firework which was a surprisingly good and dazzling choice! Who woulda thought?

Sadly, like all good things, our trip had to come to an end. We said goodbye to GJ and Daddo on New Year’s Day…

and thankfully had an uneventful flight home even with a connection in Atlanta. We’re always so glad we get to go to Naples…and we can’t wait to go back again!

Back to Naples

January 17, 2019

Back to Naples and more glorious days at the beach! The kids are of the age now where they can play happily on their own and I don’t have to worry about anyone drowning, eating sand, or trying to run away down the beach! Freedom! Heaven! I was more than happy to sit in my chair and take pictures of them having fun. Robert still gets roped into football…but I don’t think he minds too much!  🙂

Roll Tide in Miami!

January 16, 2019

After Robert found out Alabama would be playing in the Orange Bowl while we were in Naples it was too good of an opportunity to pass up so he got us some tickets and we made the easy 2 hour drive over to Miami for the game. We planned it out and were able to have lunch at Houston’s! Woohoo!

houstons

The game was really fun – even more so because Alabama was leading from the very first play!

We had fantastic seats, good weather, and pleasant seat mates! Win Win all around!

The only downside was trying to get an Uber after the game. We had to walk probably 2 miles to and then it was a madhouse of people looking for their ride. But we made it back to the hotel and were so glad we went.

The kids were having plenty of fun back in Naples…

even if the boys weren’t able to make it to the very end of the game!

Very thankful we made the trip to the Orange Bowl instead of heading out to Cali a week later! What a bummer of a game. As Robert said, “We’ll get him next year!” Roll Tide!

Naples

January 15, 2019

On December 26th I had all the Christmas decorations put up by 10am! When it’s over, it’s over! Besides, we had to get ready to escape rainy Birmingham and head to the sunshine in Naples! We flew home with my parents and we were definitely all flying high…

These kids are living their best life and don’t even know how lucky they have it!

plane

As soon as we got off the plane I was quickly reminded why this is “high season” in Naples. The weather is perfect.

Of course, it also means the beach is about a million times more crowded than normal. Small price to pay for those temps! Getting my annual “walking down the boardwalk” pic is getting harder and harder! My subjects are not that cooperative!

We truly enjoyed the sand and the sun!
