First Day!

Back to school! The boys started yesterday and, despite a heat index of 108, everyone had a great day!

We had gone up on Monday to meet our teachers. I didn’t get a pic of Maxwell but he has Mrs. Dyess in 3rd grade. Spencer has Mrs. Cox in 1st grade…

Tuesday morning came bright and early and my crew was ready for the day…with some really good hair!  🙂

Samantha and I sure are going to miss the boys during the day! She can’t wait to get to school herself in two weeks.

End of summer!

After I quit my job, I had one week of summer left to hang with all 3 kids and I made the most of it! On my first day being “retired” I took the kids to a waterpark for the day with some friends! Woohoo!

We had the best time, rode all the slides over and over, and everyone ended up like this on the drive home…

I also let the boys take a friend to Top Golf for dinner…

The kids have had the best time hanging in the hood and set up a “gas station” stand and made $36! Nice!

We also went to the dentist. Not the most fun but an end of summer checklist item!

A little more NC

After our wet trek to Secret Falls, we got all cleaned up, had a good lunch and then hit the course to play a few holes!

All was going well until Maxwell tried to go retrieve his ball that was out in the drained lake. Not his best idea! I didn’t see him go out there but then heard him yelling, “Help!! It’s like quicksand!!” hahahaha! I looked over and he was shin deep in mucky mud!

Needless to say, he was not a happy camper!

Samantha and I took our cart and went to the house for some towels and clean socks. We got him cleaned up as best as we could and finished a few more holes until the rain came. A great afternoon!

That night we had dinner with our friends the Woods. We had gone to the club with them on Friday night…

and on Saturday night we went to their house for a great meal and some marshmallow tennis (which sounds exactly like what it is!)

There was also some Pie in the Face…

It was a great stay in the mountains! We all loved the break from the heat and we sure loved having the whole family back together again!!

Secret Falls

On Saturday we decided to try out a new hike, Secret Falls.

It wasn’t too bad on the way out – a little muddy but not too steep and easy enough for Samantha to do with only a little help.

You can go to both the top of the waterfall and the bottom – it was pretty awesome!! Lots of great photo ops!

Unfortunately it started raining while we were at the bottom of the falls and didn’t stop raining for our entire hike back! We were soaked, muddy, and cranky (well, some of us were cranky! ha!) We stripped down before getting into the car and all took hot showers as soon as we got home. Adventure!!
