Naples

October 22, 2020

The kids got out early for conferences last week and had eDay on Friday so we hopped on a plane Wednesday afternoon and headed to Naples! It was the first time for the kids to be in an airport since the pandemic but I wasn’t worried – they are expert  mask wearers!

This crew was pretty darn happy to see GJ at the other end of the trip!!

I was pretty darn happy to see this belated birthday chocolate pie waiting for me! ha!

Thursday was Susu’s 98th birthday (wow!) and we got to zoom with her which was a treat.

Robert joined us on Thursday night and we had a great time – and didn’t do just a whole lot. The best! Well, we actually did a lot but not vacation things. GJ and Daddo have bought a new, smaller house so we helped move things over and get stuff set up. The kids enjoyed swimming in the new pool and learning to play pool!

We all got a good workout in moving beds, the slot machine, and the Peloton! We can do it!

We did make it to the beach and it was just about perfect. Can’t beat the beach in October!!

After spending the month of June at the beach without Robert, I think the boys were really happy to have him there to throw the football!

Party time!

October 21, 2020

To celebrate our favorite 8 year old, we took a few friends to Top Golf last week when the kids got out of school early. It was a beautiful day – perfect for hitting some golf balls! We had a crazy and fun crew and I think they all had the very best time! Also, how cool is this sign that they set up?!

It doesn’t get much better than this kid. As I say every year, he’s a happy kid who plays hard, tries hard, and loves hard. I feel like he’s just grown up so much this past year. He’s all boy and just looks too tall and skinny to be my baby. He and Maxwell are video game buds. They’re competitive and fight and drive me crazy, but deep down they love each other and look out for each other. The sweetest times are still when it’s just Spencer and Samantha – my Bobbsey twins! They just have a bond and can get each other laughing harder than anyone else. He loves to help her, look out for her, and keep her safe. I’m so glad they all have each other and I love having my happy, easy going Spencer as the glue in the middle.

Spencer is doing great in second grade. He has so many great friends that he’s very loyal to – and they are very loyal to him. He made a little crew in his Kindergarten class and those friends have stuck together. I love to see it! His teacher this year is Mrs. Brown and she’s been wonderful. Spencer is a smart kid who wants to learn.

His favorite toy is definitely the Nintendo. He would play Fortnite all day long if I let him. We have to set limits or he would turn into a gamer zombie if left to his own devices! That said, he’s still a sports fanatic and loves to play whatever the sport of the season is. He’s got a great golf swing, is loving fall baseball, and just joined an OTM basketball team. My favorite part about Spencer and sports? No matter how good or bad he’s playing, you can always hear him yelling the loudest for his teammates from the dugout or the bench! He’s such an encourager and the best teammate to have!!
