Capturing our adventures one photo at a time...

Even more swim meets! We’ve practically turned into fish this summer. Last week the kids had a meet in Vestavia and did great. It was raining and delayed but they got it in, thank goodness!

Go Spencer go…

Heat winner!

Maxwell in the middle…

Heat winner!

A fun night for all!

We then had our final regular season meet at home on Tuesday. I was out of town but Susan earned her swim mom badge and got the crew there!
Maxwell was ready thanks to Spencer’s sharpie skills…

We had more heat winners…

more fun with friends…

and awesome finishes!!

Check out these scores!

The most exciting thing though? Maxwell got swimmer of the week!!!! He’s been working so hard and I could not be happier for him!

Now I’ve got 3 swimmers of the week from this summer! Browns are killing it!
Last week we participated in an invitational meet where it’s not just two swim teams swimming against each other but several all competing together. I had no idea what we were in for! We arrived happy and excited at 7:45am…

By the time we finally left at 2:00 we were really hot, really tired, and really ready to go home! It was a very long day in the blazing sun but my swimmers did fantastic! I’m learning about swim meets and was told to write their event/heat/lane on their arm – it was actually really helpful in a big meet like this!

Since Maxwell has been at camp this was his first chance to swim in a meet this summer. He proved that he’s a really good swimmer!! This guy got 1st place overall in breastroke!!! Wow!! I honestly thought the other guy might have beat him to the wall but when the final scores came in, Maxwell was 47.66 and #2 was 47.68! Now that’s close!! He won his heat for the 50 Freestyle and ended up in 4th place overall…

He also did the Individual Medley and swam a fantastic race! He was leading in his heat the entire time until a guy just overtook him on the last lap in freestyle. He ended up 3rd place overall which is amazing!! Love this picture of Spencer cheering him on! You can see how far ahead he was at the end of his breaststroke…

Maxwell was also supposed to swim the 100 freestyle but had to leave before it was time for the event. He had plans to go to the lake with Jack for his birthday and that was much more important. Besides, it was 2:00 by that point!
Spencer got 4th place in butterfly and improved his time by over 3 seconds. Go Spencer Go! He also got 9th in the IM (his first time ever doing it) and 9th in breastroke. He also competed in the 50 freestyle but the system glitched and his score didn’t get recorded. Don’t worry – I’m trying to get that fixed! He’s also working so hard on his dive off the blocks and is showing major improvement. Just need to straighten that right leg out!

Samantha ended up 3rd place overall for breastroke, and 4th place overall for both butterfly and backstroke! She got 9th in freestyle – need to work on that form a little. She also won her heat in butterfly!! woohoo!

I was also super proud of her for diving off the blocks instead of just jumping in. Major improvement!
As always, swim meets are more fun with friends and we’re so grateful to have buddies on swim team!

Final scores below. It was a loooooong, hot day but my swimmers didn’t complain and worked so hard. I could not be more proud!

Go MBC Magic!
time for another episode of “I ask the boys to take picture and then find tons of really up close selfies on my camera roll”!

Getting artsy!

Haha! I love them. Make it a great weekend!
The weekend after Highlands the kids and I were back on the road for a quick visit to Naples for the 4th! Robert stayed home and played lots of golf. Everyone was happy! I didn’t take many pics but we did all of our favorite things. Pool and beach…

Made cookies…

Can you tell which one Maxwell made for himself?! ha!

We did have a little excitement – experimenting with Coke and Mentos and fun with fireworks!

A great 4th and a great trip to Naples as always!
