First, happy birthday to Lou Lou!!! All these grandkids sure are lucky to have you!
We hope you have a wonderful day and love you very much!
Second, throwing it back a few weeks to a water slide birthday party for Maxwell’s friend, Brooks. Brooks has a little brother around Spencer’s age so Spencer got to tag along. The boys were pretty excited…
We got there and the slide was big and awesome! Both boys got in line and climbed on up, ready to go! Maxwell came sliding on down…
and then I kept waiting for Spence. and waiting. and waiting. Well, he was sitting up at the top of the slide (which was covered so I couldn’t see him) with cold feet, blocking the entire line. Poor bud. He backed out and climbed down the slide causing a big traffic jam and unhappy kids. He wanted to try again though so he waited in line and climbed back up and then I waited for him to slide down. and waited. and waited. Cold feet again. All the kids were backed up and he wouldn’t budge. There was an older sister up there helping to keep the kids moving and after much pleading with Spencer to please slide down, I told the girl to push him down! eeek!
He came down crying and was not happy. Not happy AT ALL. He proceeded to throw a meltdown, drag out, fit. Screaming, screaming, screaming and crying. Really fun to deal with in front of about 20 other parents in the 100+ degree heat! Ah, well. I finally got him calmed down and, wouldn’t you know it, that kid decided he wanted to try the slide again. Now, I really didn’t know whether I should let him do it or not but, I did and I’m so glad I did. He went up and slid down without hesitation!!!
He LOVED it and then proceeded to go down that slide about 20 more times. Go figure.
Fear conquered!
A very happy birthday to Mary Lou! Think you handled the water slide perfectly – proud of our little guy for conquering that fear!
Happy birthday Lulu. Hope you have a great day today! Way to get back on that horse Spence-man.
Happy Happy Lulu !
