It doesn’t get much better than this kid. As I say every year, he’s a happy kid who plays hard, tries hard, and loves hard. I feel like he’s grown up so much between ages 6 and 7. While those sweet Rs still make him sound like my baby, he’s really become a big, independent kid. He can keep up with Maxwell just about all the time and loves being big brother to Samantha. The sweetest times are when it’s just the two of them – my Bobbsey twins – and he loves to help her, look out for her, and keep her safe. He and Maxwell can play together so well – and also drive each other crazy! The life of brothers. I’m so glad they all have each other and I love having my happy, silly Spencer as the glue in the middle.
Spencer is doing great in first grade. He loves school and is really enjoying his teacher this year, Mrs. Cox. He’s recently really gotten into reading longer books and chapter books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. We just had his teacher conference this week and he got a GLOWING report. He’s already at the top of the reading level for first grade, a whiz at math, and his teacher said he’s so engaged in learning. I feel like this year has been a game changer for him and he’s just thriving in school. He’s a smart kid and he loves learning.
His favorite toy is definitely the Nintendo. This kid can crush anyone in NBA2K! He’s into pretty much whatever sport is on tv and had a great time playing fall baseball. I know he’s going to love basketball which starts in a few weeks. He’s happiest with a ball in his hands or playing in the neighborhood – riding his scooter around with the neighbor kids and seeing what all they can get into!
Spencer is just fun to be around. He’ll cheer for his teammates louder than anyone in the stands. He’s an encourager and a happy kid. I feel so lucky to call him mine.
