MB Magic

March 1, 2021

This year Spencer played on an OTM basketball team. It’s another competitive league in Birmingham and we were pretty excited to get him on a team. It was a fun season and the team improved dramatically from the beginning to the end! We ended up skipping the opening tournament before Christmas as we were trying to stay covid free for our post Christmas trip to Naples (that didn’t work out!) but then we made it to all the other games except one because we were finally in Naples! Spencer enjoyed it and that’s what matters.

The boys lost their first 5 games but then went on a 3 game winning streak to end the season in 6th place out of 10 teams. We were so proud of them! They started playing together as a team so well by the end of the season. Spencer was the best at those jump shots and could sink some free throws too! They also had some sharp looking uniforms!

Love this little baller!

The most fun was that they beat the MB Green “B” team and the MB Ballers! They ended up being the #2 MB team behind MB Black which won the championship. Go boys!

Hoop stars!

February 10, 2021

Both boys had a really fun rec basketball season this year! Spencer had the best coach around…Robert!

Their team had a lot of heart…not a lot of wins, but a lot of heart! Spencer played so well as point guard and really improved in his ball handling skills over the course of the season. He also had a few great shots including a buzzer beater which elicited this reaction…love it!

Maxwell’s team started off a little slow the first two games but came alive the second part of the season. They ended up as 2nd place for regular season! woohoo!!

They had some tough games in the tournament but one I will never forget is the quarter finals. We were down by 2 points with 4 seconds on the clock. Riley got the ball and launched it from just past half court. Swish! Tie ball game! We ended up winning in double overtime. Hooray! Unfortunately, they lost in the semi-finals when the other team made a buzzer beater jump shot for the win. A fun season all around!

Go Grizzlies!

So grateful these boys got to play basketball this year!

Soccer star

November 16, 2020

That’s a wrap on Samantha’s fall soccer season! We had the most fun team – all but one are Kindergarteners at her school. Soccer is way more fun when you get to do it with your buddies!

Samantha was a star out there. There were plenty of giggles and cartwheels but some pretty awesome soccer playing went on too! She hustled and went after that ball every game. Pretty sure she was the top scorer on the team!

I’m so proud of my little soccer star and love watching her play.

Baseball

November 10, 2020

Since the spring baseball season got cut short, Spencer sure was excited to play fall ball! He was on a fun team with a great coach. He played pitcher most of the time and was usually second batter. He had some great hits, some fantastic stops, and a good season all around!

Football

November 9, 2020

Maxwell played tackle football this year and, overall, had a great experience. He was on the Raiders and they had a talented group of boys. He learned a lot and really enjoyed it. His team was undefeated in the first 2/3 of regular season and then didn’t hold it together for the last 2 games and got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!

Maxwell really only got to play on defense. I think he only got in for 2 or 3 offensive plays. I have issues with that since they are only 10 and all need to learn but…I’ll save that opinion for another time!

I’m proud of this kid for playing hard and having a good attitude about it all!
