The second 3 day paddling trip looked like just as much fun as the first…but with an awesome waterfall!
How awesome is this pic?!
Looks like they found that rope swing again…
can’t beat it!

Maxwell went on some overnight adventures while at camp including two different 3 day paddling trips!
What a great picture!
Maxwell said there was a small hole in their tent and it rained a little so that wasn’t great…and he said the food wasn’t the best…but I think the rope swing made up for all of that!
What a fun experience!!
We picked Maxwell up from camp last week and he had the very best three weeks! He went on lots of adventures, tried some new things, and got lots of bug bites! ha! Overall a top notch experience!
Cabin 17!
Spotted in the crowd!
Home friends and camp friends! the best!
He did some sailing for the first time – at least he tried to sail!
He did blacksmithing again and made a really cool candle holder…
and even did mountain biking for the first time!
Fun times!
Camp is the best!
Last weekend Samantha, Maxwell, and I drove to Greenville, SC to take Maxwell to camp! The whole family was supposed to go but Spencer ended up having a baseball game so he and Robert had to stay home. This was my first time doing the drive on my own but it wasn’t bad at all – especially with Maxwell as my navigation assistant! The other hitch? I got a nail in my tire right before leaving! Uh oh!! Thankfully GJ’s car was still in Birmingham so we loaded that up and hit the road. We stopped for gas and somehow I got talked into these…
Why not?!
We hit the town that night with friends and tried a pizza place that was really good called Barley’s. There was also a sports bar next door with a huge arcade room for the kids so it was a win all around! It’s so pretty in downtown Greenville on the river walk.
Love this crazy crew!
That night I shared a bed with Samantha in the hotel and let’s just say it was not a quality night’s sleep! I was a little concerned about driving 5 hours the next day! But, we got up and going in time to make a Starbucks and McDonald’s stop on the way to Tuxedo, NC for drop off!
It was a quick drop off. No nerves from Maxwell at all and the only goodbye wave I got was from the counselor! ha!
I know he’s going to have the very best 3 weeks!
We picked Spencer from Falling Creek Friday and I was so excited to give this kid a huge hug!! He had the very best time and is ready to go back next year. He made new friends – specifically James, Guy, and Teddy – loved archery, did horseback, climbing, football, basketball and tennis and so much more! Only downside – he got stung by a wasp, twice! Ouch! He signed up for a rock climbing adventure that got rained out and turned into a cool waterfall adventure. He learned how to fold socks and that he likes cereal and syrup! ha! Overall this kid gained independence and had incredible experiences – can’t ask for much more out of two weeks of camp!
I missed this kid and am so happy to have him home!
Today is the very last day of summer and I am so sad! I’m not ready for these days to end!
