After a fun season with the Orioles, Maxwell decided to do summer baseball for the first time this year. It’s pretty intense and a competitive 6 weeks but it sure has been a lot of fun! Maxwell was on the “B” AA team and had a great group of boys. There was also a AAA team and 3 A teams. It was great for him to learn to play new positions and get lots and lots more batting practice in.

At the beginning of the season I took some pics of the team that we could use to make a banner. I thought they turned out great!

Slate, Price, Law, Beck, Parker, Ticer, Richard, Cotes, Maxwell, JD, Henry, Stephen John

And here’s the banner! don’t they look tough?! 😉

They play against non-Mountain Brook teams and sometimes the competition was stiff! We played in one Triple A tournament and got killed by kids that looked like grown men that I swear had facial hair!! ha! But, for the regular season pool play they did great and won most of their games. Maxwell played outfield all season and was catching pop flies right and left by the end of the season. He started the season at the bottom of the batting order but quickly moved up to 4th batter and then to 1st!! Go Maxwell!

Of course, these two were the very best baseball siblings ever!

These guys practiced and played at least 4 nights a week so it has been a lot. But, Maxwell has loved it and I know I sure have had fun watching him play! Robert got to watch every game from the dugout because he got tapped to keep the stats on the iPad for the coaches. He’s so nice. The coaches forgot the iPad for one of the final games so Robert got to keep the scoreboard with Spencer’s help.

The team went into the tournament seeded in the #1 spot with 4 wins and 2 losses! woohoo!! I was sadly in France for all of the tournament. They clearly missed having me as their sideline cheerleader because the tournament didn’t go well and they got knocked out early on. Oh well! It was still a great season!

I sure am proud of this Spartan!!

Go Spartan Gold!!!!
So glad I got to see him play! Great season!
This is great family fun! I can remember Robert playing at Dannelly Field and all of us there. Mary Beth grew up at the ball park. I would run the concession stand, occasionally .
I’m impressed with these kids, they play a lot of ball and are getting good. They play at a much higher level than I remember at my age. Practice, practice, practice.
