When I was a little girl, I had the Samantha doll. Back then, it wasn’t “American Girl” yet as the dolls were still made by Pleasant Company and, boy oh boy, they were neat and special. My doll is even hand signed by Pleasant Rowlands herself. I eventually had Molly and Felicity (the redhead!) but Samantha was my first and favorite. I loved all the fancy Victorian clothes, the tiny little cakes and ice cream on her tea set, the watercress sandwich in her school lunch, her brass bed, the butterfly net….I remember every single little detail of it. Now, I’m not going to say I named my daughter after my doll but, my doll was really the first time I remember knowing the name “Samantha” and I’ve loved it ever since. 🙂
A few weeks ago, my mom brought my Samantha doll to Birmingham so she could meet her new owner, baby Samantha!
I just love that I now have my very own Samantha to pass the doll onto and can only hope she loves it and plays with it as much as I did.
For now, the doll is living on the shelf, far away from the grabby hands and mouth of baby Mantha!
I can’t wait until she’s old enough to play with the doll and read the books. I’m ready for trips to the American Girl store, tea parties whenever she wants, and endless wardrobe changes and hair re-dos! I’m so excited to have a girl!!  🙂
So so adorable! Love these pictures of the two Samanthas! Both pretty in pink!
Love this!!! My ancient Samantha is visiting the doll hospital right now. Arm reattachment surgery. We’ll have to get all the girls together upon her return!
I love this girl! 🙂
