Maxwell’s birthday is right around the corner…4 days away to be exact.  I can’t believe my sweet little baby is going to be ONE on Tuesday!  exciting stuff!  We’re having a little family birthday party this weekend and I can’t wait.  Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are all coming to eat cake, sing “Happy Birthday!” and celebrate Maxwell!

There is another very special birthday coming up before Maxwell’s though.  Susan’s birthday is on Sunday and we want to wish her the very happiest of days!!  If you’ve been reading this blog a while, you know how much we love Susan and think she’s just the bee’s knees.  I really don’t know what we would do without her.

Maxwell has a little message that he wants to send to Susan on her birthday…

Maxwell also wanted to send Susan a big hug…

And then he wanted to eat the sign…which will come as no surprise to Susan!  🙂

The sign really is true.  Maxwell looooves Susan.  You should see the smile that comes across his face when she walks in the door.  He hurries over to her and she can’t scoop him up in her arms fast enough.

Susan – we hope you have a birthday as special as you!

Have I ever mentioned that Maxwell looooooves bath time?  Why yes, I have.

He loves it now more than ever.  Here’s proof…

Happy boy!

We have tried to start telling Maxwell “no” on certain things.  I wouldn’t say it actually works 100%, but I do think he understands that he’s not supposed to be doing whatever he’s doing…kinda.

Case in point…my plants. As you saw yesterday, he loves to pull the moss out of the bottom of them.  This plant below used to have moss in the base but after Maxwell pulled it out for the 25th time I replaced it with brown paper.  Now he just loves to go over to the plant and try to rip the paper and pull on the leaves.  Every single time he goes over there, I put on my serious face and say “No. No sir. We do not touch the plant. No sir”.  I imagine the commentary in his head goes a little something like this…

I’m just gonna stand over here and pull on my favorite plant…

No Momma, I wasn’t touching the plant. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Her back is turned, I’m going for the leaves.

Uh Oh.  She’s coming closer still saying “No sir” and shaking her head back and forth. This can’t be good.

Maybe if I sit here and look real pitiful she’ll stop.

Forget that, I’m outta here.

Lesson learned?  Not exactly.  We’re a work in progress! The funniest thing is that he’s now started to shake his own head “no” in response to us which is pretty cute and makes me want to laugh but I can’t. Gotta stay serious and show him we mean business, right?!  🙂
