Have I mentioned how great my tomato plants are doing? They’re growing like weeds…well, not like weeds but like tomato plants! 🙂 My bigger, roma sized tomatoes aren’t quite ripe yet but I’ve gotten lots of cherry tomatoes already. We got over a dozen off this weekend and were able to make a pizza using nothing but our home grown tomatoes!! How’s that for cool! I feel so farmer-ish. In fact, the pizza not only had our home grown tomatoes, but was on my homemade pizza dough, using my homemade pesto that I made with basil from our garden! whoa…Martha Stewart here I come!!
If you’re curious, the pizza recipe I use is from The Pioneer Woman’s first cookbook. It is by far the favorite dinner of both me and Robert. Take the time to make your own crust too – it’s not hard and so good! Check out this post she did on pizza – Pizza Two Ways – we make ours the first way but add fresh basil at the end. So. darn. GOOD! It’s just pesto, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil. We probably have it at least every other week.
You can also get a glimpse of our new deck rail in that last pic. It looks great and I’m so glad we decided to do it. I’ll take some better pics of it next week.
Here’s two quick iphone pics of Maxwell. The first is from the day of his haircut last week and, with this expression, it totally looks like he’s saying “where’d my hair go?!” (which is what I was thinking!)
And this one is from yesterday. His short little do is starting to grow on me I think…but I still wish it would just grow period! 🙂

Oh Monday, you’re killing me today. Our weekend was part great and part not great.
The great part? We got lots of fun and necessary things done, including buying a new ipad and having a little photoshoot at the house!
The not great part? It was in the triple digits all weekend and was just about too hot to do anything. I think the heat brought the crazies out in all of us. Case in point – Maxwell decided he didn’t want to sleep in his bed and he only wanted to sleep with me in the rocking chair. Goodness gracious. I have no idea where that came from as he’s always been the BEST sleeper and loves his bed. Over the past week, he’s wanted to rock for a just few minutes before going to sleep and I had no problem with that. I loved it actually. It was great snuggle time and, after a few times singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (or Tinkle as Maxwell says), he would ask to get in his bed and go on to sleep. Well, on Saturday night, he just decided that he wanted to rock and sing Tinkle all. night. long. I’ll spare you all the details but we dealt with SCREAMING crying for up to 45 minutes straight and I was in there at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 pm and then again from 4:30 to 7:00 am. Maybe he’s just getting me all geared up for another newborn!? Goodness gracious indeed!
I decided to implement a firm “no rocking” policy from here on out because, clearly, you give him an inch and he takes a mile. Things went better on Sunday with only about 15 minutes of crying at nap time and only 30 minutes of crying at night time (of course, we’ve had zero crying for about a year so “better” is a relative term!)
Hopefully we’ll be back to normal sleep soon. I guess I should just be grateful that he’s been as good of a sleeper as he has been up until this point.
He did end up taking a great nap on Sunday so we thought we’d celebrate and beat the heat with a little cool treat…

On another note, this ipad is really only 50% mine and 50% Maxwell’s. I got it mainly to entertain him on trips, etc. What are your favorite apps for the 2 year old set? Would love some ideas!

Can we all observe a moment of silence on this lovely Friday for Maxwell’s shaggy curls. He got a haircut on Tuesday and I mean a haircut! I guess she felt like he needed a really clean cut for the summer! It makes him look so much older and I’m just hoping those curls grow back fast!!
Maxwell didn’t seem bothered by the haircut at all. He was just happy to get the sucker!
I on the other hand am a little bothered by it. I just don’t like this growing up stuff. Not one bit.
It is a nice cut though. and he’s still my baby, no matter how old he looks.

Two recent developments.
1. I think Maxwell is about to hit a growth spurt because, as of this week, he’s been eating like a horse. We had a string of a few weeks where he was being even pickier than usual with his food and just not eating much. I really think it had a lot to do with the congestion and cold he was fighting. But, he’s healthy now and eating great! Good thing because I think he was starting to look a little too skinny..
Look at those ribs! I need my chubbo back!
One of his favorite things is a sandwich made on the panini press with pesto, chicken, pepper jack and tomatoes! No PB&J for my dude – he wants gourmet! Of course, his other favorite thing are corn dogs so…yea, guess he’s no gourmet!
2. Maxwell is obsessed with Grover, aka BaBa, these days. With the 99 degree temps we’ve had outside, we’ve done a lot of this…

Don’t worry, there’s still been some late afternoon outside playtime though! Gotta keep him out there still to try and get rid of that darn sock tan! 🙂
