Old friends

On Sunday I got to see one of my best friends from college, Kristin.  Kristin and I lived together Freshman, Sophomore and Senior years of college.  She now lives in Atlanta but we obviously stay in touch and she ended up  marrying a boy from Birmingham which brings her to town every now and then!  yay!  The funniest part of it all?  We both had little boys within 2 weeks of each 2 years ago and are now both pregnant again with boys and once again due within two weeks of each other!!  Know what’s even crazier?!  Her little boy got the red hair!!  🙂

Maxwell and Lucas weren’t too keen on actually posing for a picture together.  They were having too much fun just running around each other!

Who would have thought all those years ago when we were moving into Stapleton 3 that we’d end up with little boys almost the exact same age!   So fun!

It was so good to see Kristin, Harris and Lucas.  Can’t wait to watch all of these boys grow up together! Old friends are the best!

Birthday celebrations!

This past Saturday we drove down to Montgomery for the day to celebrate both LuLu and Graddad’s birthdays!  I think it was a surprise to LuLu that we all showed up at her house…but luckily we came bearing food so she didn’t have to do anything except play with the grandkids.

We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch…and the kiddos had a ball at the “kid table”.

We then celebrated the birthday boy and girl with a key lime pie…

and then LuLu got to open her gifts…with plenty of helpers!

Granddad had a little help too!  🙂

Maxwell LOVED getting to play with Katie and Anna all afternoon….

and I loved getting to catch up with these lovely ladies!

After pie was eaten and presents were open, the kiddos hit the pool!  Robert was a trooper and volunteered to get in with Maxwell. Of course, considering how HOT and HUMID it was, I don’t think he was sacrificing too much!  Maxwell loved swimming as always and even starting jumping off the side of the pool into Robert’s arms!  exciting!

We also got to see Mary Beth’s dogs, River and Zelda, that she brought over.  If you know me at all, you know I am not a dog person…to put it lightly.  and to be around dogs this big…well…poor MB was having to run interference to keep them away from me all afternoon!  Maxwell wasn’t too keen on getting close to them either.  He just kept saying “no puppies!”.  I can’t blame him though because I think Zelda and River might still be taller than him at this point.  They are super sweet pups though, just too big for me!

By the end of the afternoon, Robert was hot-doggin’ off the diving board.  It was pretty impressive!  wish I had gotten a picture of the flips he was doing…Maxwell had to get his olympic swimming expertise from somewhere, right?

It was a fun day all around!

Happy birthday LuLu and Granddad!  We’re so glad we got to celebrate with you and love you very much!

Family photos

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a good weekend.  Ours was great and involved celebrating family birthdays as well as seeing some old friends.  Pictures to come this week!  Today I have some new family photos to share with you all.  I had Lauren of Piper Photography come out about a month ago to snap some photos for a little project I’m helping a friend with and just had to get her to take some family photos while she was here.  These are my favorites…

Maxwell makes me laugh in that last one!  She also took a lot of really neat pictures of the inside of the house which I will happily share with you once my friend’s project is up and running!

Olympic Friday Funny

I mentioned on Wednesday how my favorite part of the Olympics is watching the reaction of the parents in the stands.  Here’s a few clips of some of the best ones – my obvious favorite is Aly Raisman’s parents.  I would totally be like that!

Back in Business

The AT&T guy made it over here yesterday and just had to replace our box.  Apparently it had gotten blown when the power went out or something.  Whatever it was, I’m glad it was an easy fix and happy to be back in business!

I hope you guys got some good laughs out of the Gold Medal winner pictures from the past two days.  I know I sure have!

Given the HOT temps we’ve been dealing with around here, we’ve been spending a lot of afternoons inside watching our Mighty Machines, coloring and playing with Play-Doh.  Fun stuff!

Whenever Maxwell is playing with Play-Doh he periodically stops and smells it.  I can’t blame him, I do the same thing!  I love the way it smells!

As good as it smells, Maxwell has learned that Play-Doh is “gross” if you put it in your mouth!  I’m just going to take his word on that one!
