The kids have had so much fun with chalk outside and I’ve been super impressed with their drawings! Well, Maxwell’s drawings…but they all helped. 🙂

Easter
It was not a normal Easter around here but we still had a good day. We had dyed eggs the day before…
and the bunny did come so the kids were excited to get some treats…
He also hid the real eggs outside and lots of fake eggs inside. A fun hunt for all!
The weather wasn’t great and we had some severe storms that night. We tried to get out for a bike ride but didn’t make it very far before the rain came.
We did make some cupcakes which made the day special.
Other than that, I took a much needed nap, the kids watched The Goonies for the first time, and we all had pork tacos for dinner. Easter indeed! Hope you all had a good one!
April Fool’s
I didn’t pull any big pranks this year but I couldn’t resist getting the kids at least a little! When they came down for breakfast I told them I had made them some brown-eees! Yum! They were pretty excited until they took the foil off!
hahaha! I didn’t lie!
Later that day on our hike I told them that the Governor had just made an announcement that all kids were going to have to repeat their current grade again next year! I totally fooled them and they were not happy!! hahaha! Thankfully we’ll be moving on to K, 2nd and 4th grade next year – if we all survive home school that is!
Cheaha
A week ago Saturday with Robert in tow we made the drive to Cheaha State Park. We even got to drive through Camp Mac on the way! We started with the easy hike/walk to Bald Rock – pretty nice!
We then headed over Pulpit Rock which also had some great views.
Robert even got a bit daredevil and climbed out onto this rock!

The goal of our day was really to see a waterfall but we kept getting detoured because of trailheads being closed. We finally managed to make our way to Cheaha Falls though and it was pretty cool!
It was a long day of adventuring and we all felt like this on the long drive home!
Thankful for the time spent together on another beautiful day!
King’s Chair
Another day, another hike! Last week on a slightly more chilly day, I took the kids out to Oak Mountain to hike up to King’s Chair. They weren’t quite so sure of the temps when we started…
but we quickly warmed up and enjoyed the adventure.
We went to King’s Chair by way of Eagle’s Nest. It was a pretty aggressive uphill hike but the kids did great!
Climbing up Eagle’s Nest seemed like a good idea until we had to get down!
We made it then were finally on our way to King’s Chair!
When we got to the top we were pretty impressed with the view!
Not a bad place to stop for a snack! We were then going to head back down the mountain and got back on the trail only to see a sign pointing up to King’s Chair! We hadn’t even made it to the top yet! I’m so glad we noticed that because we definitely wanted to sit on the throne! The views up there were even better…
We all took a turn sitting on King’s Chair, but none of us were quite brave enough to dangle our legs off the front!
I think this might have been my favorite hike we’ve done!
