Friday!!

Make it a great weekend.
On Saturday of President’s Day weekend we got up bright and early to drive to Auburn for the day so Maxwell and his teammates Forest could compete in the VEX State Robotics Competition. They had a 3rd teammate, Luke, but he unfortunately decided to go on a family trip that weekend instead of robotics.

We knew more of what to expect this year v. last year. The boys got their robot inspected…

completed their interview…

and then started the competitions! They had 9 different matches on the field and their robot did exactly what it was built to do each time! Can’t ask for better than that. There was some drama throughout the day with several teams getting disqualified for various things – the judges were being very strict.

Of course the spectators were good sports and found ways to entertain themselves over the 8 hours we were there!

The Gigachads ended up ranked 43 out of 75 teams. I’m very proud of them and I think they are proud of themselves! I love all that Maxwell has learned through the robotics program and glad we got to go to State again!

Mr. Roboto!
Like last year, Maxwell has been on the school’s robotics team. He built a good robot this year and, as the only 6th grader on his team, really stepped into the leader role for his team, the Gigachads!

The 6th graders in Robotics (minus Jack who bailed about halfway through the season)…

Of course Robotics is more fun when one of your good buddies is doing it too. Thankful Gray was also in Robotics at his school!

They went to all of the tournaments throughout the season and did pretty well at a lot of them.

While they came close, they never got that first or second place to automatically earn a bid to state. However, at the end of the season their skills score got them a bid! Hooray! Maxwell was pretty excited and proud, as he should be! Domo Arigato!
Maxwell’s earning merit badges right and left. He earned two in one a few weeks ago at a merit badge day!

He made this nice toolbox in woodworking that day!

This group is working on the Family Life badge.

Proud of him.
The kids had an e-day on Friday and have today off of school. We love extra long weekends! Especially when I’m super nice and let them all invite a friend to go to Top Golf!

Good times!
