Maxwell had a fantastic team with one of my favorite coaches in his grade, Coach Welden. By this age, you know most of the boys still playing baseball pretty well and the coaches are able to draft the teams pretty evenly. Maxwell had some great players and good friends on his team – can’t beat that! He played second base all season and had some great stops and catches.
He hit a bit of a slump mid-season and literally didn’t swing at a pitch for 2 (3?) games. Didn’t even swing. Sometimes it worked in his favor and he got walked, but he also struck out more than he should. We got him a few lessons with a hitting coach, got his confidence back up, and soon enough he was driving the ball again! Kid pitch is a very different ballgame and I think it just got in his head a little. He worked it out though and came back better than ever! I’m so proud of him.
They went into the tournament 5th place out of 6 teams but fought through to the finals! They almost had a shut out in the semi-finals! It was a great game and I sure do love to watch him play!
Final game recap tomorrow! Go Rays!
Again I’m so glad I got to see a game this season. Love to watch the boys play baseball!
Maxwell, you improved during the season, and that’s important . When you hit a slump , you get some help. Good season!
Proud of the fight in this guy. Stick with baseball, you can be a great player!
