Doc update

November 30, 2012

I took Spencer to see Dr. Walley for his 6 week checkup.  Robert and I had a bet on what he was going to weigh – Robert guessed 9.5 lbs, I said 10.  We were both wrong!  My little chubbo is 11 lbs, 4 oz (75th-95th%)!  chunk!  He’s also 22.5 inches long (85th-95th%) and has a head circumference of 15 inches (75th-95th%).  I looked back to compare with Maxwell and, at 5 weeks, Maxwell was 10 lbs, 1 oz and 22 and 1/4 inches long.  Spencer’s a week older and almost a pound heavier!  We’ll see how they compare as they grow.

Spencer did great at the doc again.  Happy and chubby…

I mean, could he be any cuter?!

Nope, he couldn’t.  and being that cute is exhausting!

Getting checked out by Dr. Walley…

Post-shot in thigh…not happy!

Overall, Dr. Walley said Spencer looks just great!  Hooray for good doctor reports!

Just a few other things to wrap up the week around here.

Maxwell has enjoyed being back home around all of his toys again…

GJ and Daddo stopped by on their way back to FL…

and Maxwell gave us all hats to wear as usual…

GJ and Daddo are good sports!

And last but not least, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here!

Ho ho ho!  I LOOOOVE Christmas time!  My decorations will be mainly the same as last year, but, with Susan’s help, I am doing something new to the outside.  Will share pics next week.

Have a great weekend!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

Old friends

August 8, 2012

On Sunday I got to see one of my best friends from college, Kristin.  Kristin and I lived together Freshman, Sophomore and Senior years of college.  She now lives in Atlanta but we obviously stay in touch and she ended up  marrying a boy from Birmingham which brings her to town every now and then!  yay!  The funniest part of it all?  We both had little boys within 2 weeks of each 2 years ago and are now both pregnant again with boys and once again due within two weeks of each other!!  Know what’s even crazier?!  Her little boy got the red hair!!  🙂

Maxwell and Lucas weren’t too keen on actually posing for a picture together.  They were having too much fun just running around each other!

Who would have thought all those years ago when we were moving into Stapleton 3 that we’d end up with little boys almost the exact same age!   So fun!

It was so good to see Kristin, Harris and Lucas.  Can’t wait to watch all of these boys grow up together! Old friends are the best!

Weekend recap

July 23, 2012

Hi all!  Hope you had a good weekend.  Our was mostly good…minus a few crying episodes and one big boo-boo!

The weekend started off right on Friday when I had this for lunch…

Yum.  Made with tomatoes and basil from our backyard, it was delicious.  Inspired by this post from a great blog. (one of my faves).

Saturday morning brought bagels…or tiggles as Maxwell kept saying!  Whatever he wanted to call them was fine by me because he was one happy camper!

We actually had Robert’s sister and brother-in-law staying with us for the weekend because they had a wedding to go to in Birmingham.  Robert’s parents were also planning to come over Saturday afternoon before the wedding to see Maxwell for a bit.  We were hoping that Maxwell would get a great nap in and be well rested to see Lou Lou and Granddad.  Yea, he had other plans and decided not to sleep and to throw a fit for about 2 hours instead.  Holland was at the house for all of that and I definitely think we convinced him that he doesn’t need kids anytime soon!  We finally got Maxwell up after a whopping 30 minute nap and hoped for the best!

Luckily he did great all afternoon and got some quality time in with Lou Lou and Granddad.

We were ready to put him to bed early that night and went through the normal nighttime routine which involves Maxwell turning off his lamp.  I have no idea why, but right after he turned it off, his little hand went straight for the lightbulb.  Robert and I pulled it off within half a second but the damage was done.  That bulb was hot and his poor little hand was burned.  We spent the next hour and half getting him calmed down and keeping ice on his hand.  A long afternoon followed by a long night!

When he woke up the next morning, his hand was definitely worse than I thought it was going to be.  Look at these terrible blisters!

He’s been such a trooper about it and hasn’t mentioned his boo-boo too many times.  Hopefully it will heal up fast!  and, yes, I’m getting a new lamp for his room asap.

Sunday Maxwell got to (literally) hang out some more with Mary Beth and Holland…

and play with some Play-doh.

We then even got to see GJ and Daddo as they stopped by for a quick visit on their way to AR!!

We love visitors!!

It was a fun family-filled weekend with just a few rough patches.  Hope you all had a good weekend!

Another quick visit

February 29, 2012

Happy Leap day! See you again in 4 years 2/29!

Maxwell’s Aunt Messy was in town on Saturday and stopped by for a quick visit. Maxwell was much too busy to actually sit in her lap but they still managed to have some fun together…

Peekaboo!!

We love visitors!

In other news, Maxwell got bit at school yesterday! ouch! The teacher said one of the other kids bit him on the finger (and i could still see the bite marks that afternoon!) The teachers loved on him a little and he was fine. It does make me a little nervous for next year though because he’s going to be the very youngest kid in the 2 year old class. I mean, the youngest possible you could be -you have to turn 2 by September 1 and he turns 2 on August 30. Hope my baby can hold his own against the big kids next year!

A quick visit

February 27, 2012

Last week we had a quick visit from some of our very favorite people – GJ and Daddo!  They stopped by for dinner on their way to Arkansas and we sure were glad to see them!

Maxwell loved all the attention…not surprisingly!

GJ clearly thought this was a very exciting Elmo book!  🙂

Maxwell and Daddo had a little chat…

as Daddo explained that C is for Cookie!

Maxwell then got out the SeeNSay and had GJ play the Old McDonald song about 50 times…and every time it played Maxwell would giggle and squeal and dance around!  You can see how much that tickled GJ!

GJ couldn’t resist Maxwell’s charms and simply had to scoop him up and smother him in kisses!  I love these pictures…

These two are big buds!

Maxwell then got a little bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bee bite on his belly from Daddo!

Too cute!

It was a great night (thanks for cooking the steaks, Robert!) and makes me REALLY wish we all lived closer together.

Come back soon GJ and Daddo!  We miss you already!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments
