A little of this…

October 15, 2013

First, a BIG happy birthday to Susu!!  We love you!

susu bday

Second, a few things going on around here…

Last Thursday was Open House night at Maxwell’s school.  I loved getting to see his teachers, his classroom and all of his artwork!  Maxwell couldn’t wait to show me the bucket firetruck and cow fireman that he plays with every single time he goes to school.  One of the teachers was laughing telling me about how possessive he is of that firetruck and cow fireman!  too funny!  I think Spencey had the most fun of all the kids there.  He loved being in the big kid classroom!

open house

On Saturday, I got up at the crack of dawn and headed to Atlanta with 6 other girls from my Bunco group.  (out of town two weekends in a row! who do I think I am?!)  We went to Scott’s Antique Market and then had a fun night on the town that included the most entertaining Uber cab ride I’ve ever had that involved Blurred Lines, a booming bass and a giant video screen!

atlanta

The trip was tons of fun and I even came home with that pretty little bench!  Robert, once again, very nicely held down the fort at home.  I think the boys had plenty of fun watching football together!

bama

I headed on back early Sunday because we had visitors!  GJ and Daddo were passing through!  GJ even got to go to Maxwell’s soccer game on Sunday afternoon…

soccer

Maxwell did great and played the WHOLE game!  Go buddy go!

GJ also stuck around the next morning. We had just gotten in the car to head to Home Depot when the cement mixer truck pulled up right in front of the house to pour concrete into the section of sidewalk they were repairing.  We obviously put the car in park and hopped out to watch the show!

sidewalk

We no longer have a broken sidewalk but we do have a personalized one now!  🙂

sidewalk

I had grand intentions of doing full initials for both boys but the cement was harder to write in than I thought so we just stuck with an S and an M!  And we also did get on over to Home Depot and my yard is now full of planted pansies!  Hooray!

I think we’re caught up for now…see you tomorrow!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

Weekend highlights

September 10, 2013

We had a great weekend around here last weekend.  It was one of those that definitely makes me think we live in Mayberry!  On Friday we went for a little stroll…

stroll

We hit up the fire station, the elementary school playground…

and ended up in front of City Hall where Maxwell contemplated his chess moves…

chess

He had fun playing “chest” as he said!  🙂

That night we went to, where else? the Mexaurant!

mexaurant

Saturday we got the treat of getting to see my college roommate, Kristin, and her cute family!  She has two boys that were both born within 2 weeks of my boys…such a small world!

Spencer and Hayes had fun swinging…

and Maxwell and Lucas had fun playing!

It’s so fun to watch the boys grow up together.  Here we are together August of last year right before Spencer and Hayes were here.  And here we are in 2010 when Maxwell and Lucas were just a few months old!  Love old friends!

That day they were also having a fundraiser in Crestline with all sorts of activities including a band that night.  We took advantage of the “touch a truck” event that afternoon and Maxwell got to climb on and sit in all different types of trucks…

Saturday night we got a sitter and Robert and I had a great dinner out at Highlands Grill.  Maxwell and Spencer had fun at home with Miss Abby!  So happy Maxwell liked her and all went smoothly!

Sunday was church and a little soccer practice in the field…

Gotta get ready for the first game next weekend!

Mayberry, USA right here in Alabama!  🙂

Hannah!

July 22, 2013

This is my best friend, Hannah…

hannah

She showed up to my school the first day of 7th grade and I’ve called her my bff ever since. She moved away in 10th grade and we’ve perfected the art of long distance friendship.  She now lives in St. Louis and I could not have been happier that she was able to stop through Birmingham on her way to the beach this weekend.

I desperately needed a Hannah fix on Friday night.  She was just what the doctor ordered.

hannah

I think Spencer loves her just as much as I do!

hannah

This is Hannah’s husband, Ryan.  I’ve actually known Ryan even longer than I’ve known Hannah.  They’re what you call “good people.”

ryan

This is Hannah’s precious baby girl, Caroline…

caroline

She’s 15 months old and this is the first time I got to meet her in person.  Inexcusable.  I hope it won’t be another 15 months until I see her again.  Spencer and Caroline were so funny together.  Especially considering they are the same size.  A big 9 month old boy and a petite 15 month old girl.  Love it.

caroline and spencer

This is Hannah’s little boy Joshua who turned 4 in May.  He and Maxwell were insta-buds.

joshua

Two little firemen ready for action!

mbb and joshua

What a blast to be able to sit and chat and watch all of our babies play together.

spencer and joshua

We also threw them all in the bath together…

bath

There was a whole lot of splishing and splashing going on!

bath

and, for the record, this little girl…

caroline

is a good sport!  🙂

bath

After bath, storytime on the couch…

storytime

Some were more interested in the books than others!

storytime

I can’t blame her – the books were about trucks and trains.  Boys.

storytime

Oh, what a fantastic night.  I wish it could happen more often…way more often.  Love this girl…

Our visitors came back Saturday morning for a little more fun before heading out…pictures tomorrow!  See you then!

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments

Family!

May 14, 2013

For Spencer’s baptism on Sunday, we had all sorts of family trickle in all weekend long! It was SO fun to get everyone together and let all the cousins play, play, play! First in was GJ and Daddo. They got here on Wednesday and Maxwell could not have been more excited to see them! My mom went with me to pick him up from school and when he saw her he just said, “heeeeey GJ” and then ran up to give her a big hug. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever. Maxwell then couldn’t wait to get GJ home so he could “jump on her.” Yep, jump on her. I have no idea where he has gotten this but every time I talk about GJ, Maxwell talks about how he wants to jump on her. So, as soon as he got her to the house, he made her lay down on the couch and he jumped on her! Poor GJ! She’s a good sport!!

GJ jump

Daddo got some good time in loving on sweet Spencer that afternoon…

daddo and spencer

My mom played nanny for the boys on Thursday as Susan was out of town and I took a lunch break to go to Zoe’s with them. They were pretty good lunch dates…

GJ and MBB

GJ then drove to Arkansas to pick up Susu and bring her to Birmingham. We were all so happy she made the trip!

susu and spencer

and here is Susu declaring that Spencer’s hair does indeed have a red tint to it. He seems pleased with that idea!  We’ll see!

spencer and susu

Keath, Jen, Delaney and Nate got into town on Friday night and we had a full day of fun on Saturday!

mbb and delaney

GJ and Keath took Maxwell, Delaney and Nate over to the tot lot and ran into this on the way…

pink firetruck

Oh boy! I don’t think there could have been anything more perfect for this crew considering Maxwell’s love of firetrucks and Delaney’s love of all things pink!!

pink firetruck

The three amigos then had lunch together…and all had to sit on the same side of the table, of course!

lunch

All that playing at the tot lot makes you thirsty!

juice

Spencer was being well tended to by Keath!

keath and spencer

After naps, everyone came back over to the house to celebrate a very special birthday!

delaney balloon

Delaney turns 4 TODAY! Happy Birthday Delaney! We celebrated with a little fire truck riding…

fire truck

and cake!

cake

What comes after cake? Presents of course! Maxwell was a big (and largely unwanted) help to Delaney in opening her presents! This pictures makes me laugh…

tiara sneak

Delaney had just put on the pink tiara that came with her new Ballerina Barbie and Maxwell snatched it off her head before she could even say “princess!” ha!

Maxwell then checked out her new Barbie dolls…

barbies

“Wait a minute, these aren’t trucks!”

But, he ultimately decided they might be fun to play with for a little bit…until Delaney rightfully took them back! 🙂

barbie

Maxwell wasn’t too upset though because he got a special present from Susu and GJ even though it wasn’t his birthday (GJ’s good like that!). He got a T-ball set and he, Nate and Delaney had the most fun playing with it after dinner. Batter up!

batter up

It was such a fun day! These cuties got lots of love from GJ…

delaney, gj, maxwell

and even gave each other a little love! “We like each other!”

mbb and delaney

Funny little kids.

mbb and delaney

A BIG thank you to Keath and Jen for making the long trip! We loved having you here and Maxwell hasn’t stopped talked about “NateNLaney!” 🙂

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments
