Wrestling

February 7, 2024

As soon as football ended, Maxwell – and a bunch of his buddies – signed up for wrestling. We didn’t quite know what we were getting into but learned a lot. Practices were every day after school and meets were looooong. It ended up not being Maxwell’s thing – but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t good at it! He won several times in his weight class and the coach really encouraged him to sign up again next year. I don’t think that’s going to happen but it was good to give it a try! Some pics from the season…

Proud of Maxwell for trying something new!

Tennis

December 28, 2023

Wrapped up another fun season of tennis! I played 4.0 for the fall season and played first court singles and doubles all season. It was a challenging season considering we only had 7 members of our team but I found subs for every match and we never had to forfeit. Hooray! I lost one set to the girl from CCB and then most both sets to the girl from Pine Tree. Boo. But, our team came in 2nd place overall! Pretty good for 7 players!

Of course, I play cardio most days too…can’t get enough!

Soccer

Wrapping up fall sports with Samantha the soccer star!!

soccer

She played on her same team again – with a few additions. This year they had really official uniforms and a name the league gave them. They were Spirit! Not nearly as good as names of years gone by but still just as good at scoring goals!

These girls worked so well together. They are all really learning how to pass and move the ball around. They only lost 1 game the whole season.

Samantha’s footwork continues to be top notch. She also perfected her sneak attack goal where she takes off from the other end of the field when the other team is throwing it in, steals the ball away and scores before the other team even knows what happens! She did it several times this season and it was awesome to watch!!

The girls ended the season with a cold, rainy game but that didn’t bother them. They dominated!!

Go Spirit! World Champions!!

Go Samantha!

Super Bowl

The Raiders made it to the Super Bowl! Woohoo!

There were two photographers there during the game so we got some great pictures!

Unfortunately, the game didn’t go our way. The Jets – who we had beaten twice before! – scored in the second quarter and got the extra point so it was 7-0 going into the half. We finally scored in the 4th quarter and went for 2 to try and win but…no luck. We lost 7-6. Such a bummer but I am so incredibly proud of Spencer and how well he handled himself not only in that game but the whole season. He was a strong leader for the team and made some fantastic plays.

Way to go Raiders! Regular season champs and Super Bowl runners up!

Raiders

November 15, 2023

Spencer was a Raider this year. His team was a bit of an unknown at the beginning of the season because we just didn’t know a few of the kids on his team but…man, it turned out to be a great season! He had the absolute best team of young guy coaches that were so committed – 6 coaches that all showed up to every single practice and game! He had a fantastic group of boys that really worked together and got along. Of course, the Raiders were the luckiest because they had the best QB in the league – Spencer Brown!

Had a little bit of a bum ankle for part of the season but he fought through.

They had a winning season – only lost 2 games and ended the season as REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS! Woohoo!! They lost once to the Bills and then got blown out once by the Saints. No one is quite sure what happened in that Saints game but I know why they lost – I was out of town. Spencey just didn’t play as well without me cheering him on from the sidelines! ha! Overall it was such a fun season with way more Ws than Ls!

The best part was watching Spencer step up and be a leader on his team. He’s so poised on the field and never gets frazzled. He made some amazing completed passes this season which is pretty rare for 5th grade. He called the plays and motivated his team and was just generally awesome all season. So so proud of him.

The Raiders had an easy win over the Saints in the first round of the playoffs and then beat the Vikings in the second round to make it to the Super Bowl!
