9 months old!

June 1, 2011

I don’t know what happened to the last month.  I feel like I just did the 8 month post yesterday!  But, here we are…9 months old.  Maxwell is just a huggable, squeezable, giggly little guy.  His personality is coming through more and more and he is going to be a charmer!  He loooooves being around people, especially other kids, and smiles at just about everyone.  He’s super curious and is constantly looking around and checking things out when we are out and about.  He’s just a happy baby and I feel so lucky to be his momma.

Maxwell’s schedule really hasn’t changed since last month – still 2 to 3 naps a day at 9:00, 1:00 and sometimes around 5:00.  He’s such a good sleeper now.  We just put him down in his crib and, after playing for a few minutes, he’ll just roll over and go to sleep.  At night, we lay him in his crib around 6:45 and he sleeps all night until we go get him around 6:45 in the morning.  Nanner and Mr. Moo are his big buds.  I always leave them in his crib and he can’t wait to get a hold on them when we put him to bed.  He’s still eating 3 meals a day – usually fruit and oatmeal for breakfast, fruit and cereal for dinner and then a vegetable for dinner.  He still nurses 4 times a day as well.  I’m excited to start trying new foods with him but, so far, he hasn’t done that great with non-baby food.  We recently gave him a little bite of eggs and some potatoes and he was not a fan!  Maybe that will come when he gets teeth – which he still doesn’t have!

As I mentioned last week, Maxwell is just starting to crawl.  He’s not consistent with it yet but he can do it!  He’s also the best bottom-scooter I’ve ever seen!  🙂  He’s trying so hard to pull up on anything he can reach.  While he can’t get himself up yet, if we stand him up and let him hold onto something sturdy, he can totally balance and stay up for a long time.

We did our monthly photo shoot yesterday.  Enjoy….

Maxwell knows how many pictures I like to take and thought about making a run for it…

I told him I’d make it quick this time but he wasn’t so sure I was telling the truth…

But he then smartly decided to stay on the chair and smile!

I love my happy and (almost always) agreeable little model!

He then played a little pattycake…

Practiced waving bye-bye…to himself…

and ate his hand.

Maxwell then got pouty with me because I had promised to make it short…

I told him we couldn’t be done with the photo shoot yet because we still had to take our picture with…

Little Al!!  Yay for Little Al!  Re-energized by seeing his elephant buddy, Maxwell gave me a few more GREAT smiles…

And then he saved the best for last!

Whoa!  That’s a smiley happy baby boy!!  Happy 9 months Maxwell!  We love you!!

8 months old

May 3, 2011

My little buddy is 8 months old. I really didn’t think he could get any better than he was at 7 months, but he just keeps getting better and better every single day. Maxwell is so fun. The babbles, squeals and giggles that come out of his mouth crack me up and make me smile. He talks all the time – just jibber jabbering away to himself in his crib or chatting it up with me and Robert. He’s also quite the wiggle worm. I can barely keep him on the changing table and he even took a little face plant off the couch this past weekend. (after some tears from him and me, everyone was fine. thank goodness!) He rolls all over the place and I’m sure will be crawling in no time.

A few of his favorites:

  • Singing “The Wheels on the Bus” – this will guarantee a smile from him every single time
  • Swinging at the park
  • Exploring the village with Susan – they love to watch the kids getting out of school, visit the ladies waiting for the bus and seeing all their friends at the Pig.
  • The library – Tuesdays and Thursdays mean Storytime and Patty Cake Time at the library. Maxwell is one of Miss Nay Nay’s favorites! 🙂

Maxwell is eating 3 meals a day – usually fruit and oatmeal in the morning, fruit and rice cereal for lunch and then a vegetable for dinner. He’s a good eater! He’s still nursing 4 times a day too but that might be cutting down to 3 times a day soon. He’s just too busy playing! Maxwell continues to be a great sleeper – 7:00 to 7:00. I’ve actually even stopped rocking him at night.  We just put him down, stay goodnight and leave the room.  He rolls around for a while but is usually asleep within 15 minutes.  During nap time, he still has a little habit of sleeping for 30 minutes and then waking up but, usually, if we leave him in there for a bit he’ll go back to sleep and get a good nap. Morning nap is at 9:00, afternoon nap is at 1:00 and he still usually takes a short nap around 5:00 before bedtime at 7:00. He actually loves his bed and is quite content to just play in there for over an hour if he’s not sleeping. He’s pulling down his bumpers all the time and is trying really hard to pull up on the side of the crib. Not much makes him happier than seeing Nanner or Mr. Moo in his bed. He loves his little paci friends! His hair is getting thicker, wavier and blonder every day. I love watching him grow and can’t believe it could ever get better than this!!

8 month photoshoot…

I love the little piece of hair that always sticks out over his ear. I’m sure it’s going to turn into a curl eventually!

My perfect little angel…

With his perfectly round head…

and perfectly chubby feet…

and perfectly perfect little bottom! 🙂

Like every month, we brought out Maxwell’s buddy Little Al…

Maxwell wasn’t quite so sure he wanted to share the stage that day though…

Hey Little Al, be quiet! I’m the star of this show!

No more trumpeting! Didn’t you hear me? Shush!

You know, I think you need a little help Little Al…

A little help right off this chair!

Ha Ha Little Al! You thought I’d share the stage with you…

But, nope! I’m the star of this show and I’ve got the 8 month sticker to prove it! See ya later!

Whoa…that was kind of a far way to fall…

You ok down there Little Al?

Momma, can you help Little Al up off the floor? He “fell”.

Maxwell and I then had a little talk and I told him that we have to be nice and share the stage every once in a while (though we all know Maxwell really is the star of the show!) 🙂

I then asked my little star to “say cheese!”

Oops! Let’s try that again…say cheese!

Perfect! Happy 8 months sweet boy!! You make our lives so much fun! We love you!

7 months old!

April 5, 2011

Today I have something very serious to discuss. My baby is 7 months old. SEVEN months old. What!? Where did the time go? I have to say though, 7 months might be the most perfect age ever. Maxwell is SO fun. He babbles, woo-woo’s, grunts and shrieks all day long. He’s the happiest, smiliest little guy and loves going out on adventures around town. He definitely knows who his favorite people are and is a little stingy with the smiles if you’re not one of them! He still drinks his milk 4 times a day and now also eats real food 2 times a day. He usually gets fruit in the morning and veggies in the afternoon. He likes pretty much everything we’ve given him except for peas and green beans. Sweet potatoes and carrots are big hits! He takes a nap at 9:00 and 1:00 and sometimes still needs a little short one around 4:45. Also, BIG NEWS, Maxwell is official a crib napper! He might fuss for a while but he goes to sleep in his bed with Nanner or Mr. Moo right there with him. Unfortunately, he does have a (bad) habit of waking up 30 minutes after he goes to sleep. Sometimes he’ll go back to sleep and sometimes he’ll just play in there for another 30 minutes to an hour. We’re working on getting longer naps and I really think they’ll come when he starts crawling and wearing himself out. He’s still sleeping great at night – down at 7:00 pm and we don’t hear a peep until we go get him at 7:00 am. Maxwell also recently mastered the art of rolling over. He can go from back to front and front to back over and over again with no problem! This little guy is going to be on the move soon! My little buddy just makes me happier than I could ever imagine!

Lots of pictures…

Sweet, sweet baby boy…

While he doesn’t smile ALL the time…

He does smile a LOT!!

I love this gummy little grin!

Happy…

Happier…

Happiest!

My little yogi – happy baby pose! Maxwell LOVES grabbing his feet these days…

This series of photos just makes me laugh…from serious to belly laugh!

Of course Maxwell took a picture with his best bud, Little Al…

Then, even though Maxwell was really bored with me…

I went in for some close-ups….

Happy 7 months sweet boy! We love you!

Tastes like chicken!

March 30, 2011

So, what did Maxwell do next?

Granddad wins this one!  He said “I bet that he took one shoe off and put it in his mouth!”  Well…he didn’t take one off but he definitely put it in his mouth!!

He bit…

and chewed…

and gnawed…

and even licked a little!

I can’t say I blame him.  Leather and new shoes have always been my favorite smells…and sometimes they just smell so good you want to eat them!

Don’t worry, his fire truck shoes survived the gummy attack.  They were just a little slobbery…

He just wants to put everything in his mouth these days…including pears and green beans!  Yep, after a rocky start, pears and green beans are back on the menu.  We’re still working on peas though.

I also have an “Operation Crib Nap” update.  After abandoning the operation for several weeks, we tried again yesterday and Maxwell did GREAT!  He took two fantastic naps in his crib with very little fussing at all.  Hooray!  I don’t know why I was pushing it so hard before – I think this just proves he wasn’t ready.  We have had his swing in his room for the past few weeks so he has gotten used to going into his room for every nap.  Maybe that helped?  I don’t really know but I’m very encouraged by his sleeping today.  Let’s hope he keeps it up!

6 Months Old!

March 7, 2011

Our baby boy turned a whole half of a year last week!  This whole growing up thing is going WAY TOO FAST!  I think this 6 month age might be as close to perfect as things get – Maxwell is SUCH a happy little guy.  He laughs, he giggles, he smiles – he just lights up the room every single day.  He babbles constantly and Robert and I crack up at the different sounds coming out of his mouth.  Although we had a rough patch with the naps, I think we’ve turned that corner.  The past week – even though we’ve been living through tons of construction at the house – he’s been napping great and barely crying in his bed at all.  He may not sleep the whole time he’s in his bed, but he’s not crying so I’ll take it!  He’s learning to entertain himself and I love it.  He still takes a nap at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and then some days he still gets in a 3rd short nap around 4:30.  Sleeping at night continues to be fantastic – we put him to bed at 7:00 pm and don’t hear a peep out of him until we go get him around 6:30 am.  In the morning he’s just lying awake in there playing with his stuffed monkey waiting on one of us to show up and when we do, he gives us the BIGGEST smile you’ve ever seen.  Let me tell you – there is no better way to start your day!  He’s still eating 4 times a day and we’re going to be starting rice cereal this week.  Big stuff!  Though a bit wobbly still, he’s doing great at sitting up.  Our little guy is just a joy – he charms strangers and gets compliments every where we go.  I can’t believe how much I love him.  Can he PLEASE stay this age forever?!!

Monthly picture overload straight ahead….

At first Maxwell wasn’t exactly excited when he saw me coming with the camera…

But when I explained to him that his adoring fans NEEDED to see some cute 6 months shots, he happily shared some smiles…

The smiles didn’t last though and boredom quickly set in….

Bored…

Bored…

Bored.

I knew I had to do something quick if I didn’t want all my pictures to look like this…

So, I brought out my secret weapon to get the smiles…Little Al!

Happy once again, we finished out the photo shoot with smiles and laughs galore!

Happy half of a year sweet boy!

We love you!!
