Highlighter Hoopers

Samantha had an awesome rec basketball season with the very best coach in the league – Robert!

The Highlighter Hoopers made a pretty good showing with an overall record of 4 and 6. Many of those 6 games were super close and only lost by 1 basket. Samantha played point all season and did a great job handling the ball and passing it off. She’s also a sure shot at free throws!! I love to watch her play because she always brings the hustle and plays so aggressively. It’s fun to see her out there!

I did have to coach their final regular season game. I didn’t bring home the W – we lost 6 to 8 – but I think I did ok…not as good as Robert but ok.

We got knocked out by the Pickles in the first round of the playoffs unfortunately. It was a great game though – the Highlighters were down 5 to 14 at one point and made quite a comeback to only lose 11 to 14. Proud of those girls!

Weekend fun

Spencer and Robert weren’t the only ones that had fun this past weekend! I drove over to Nashville for a quick 24 hours. We hit up the Antiques & Gardens show…

and then also went to the Kelsea Ballerina show. I didn’t know a single song at the show but that didn’t matter – it was especially fun with Keith Urban joined her on stage!

Meanwhile back at home, Samantha and her crew were taking full advantage of the pretty Saturday riding all around the neighborhood and even hitting up Starbucks on their bikes. Can’t beat that!

and Maxwell went up the Lovelady Center with a group to volunteer and make valentines with kids that stay there. A great way to spend the morning!

Spencer managed to still squeeze in a sleepover even after the shoot.

Of course there was also baseball and basketball all weekend too. Never stops!

Knee

Samantha also got a pair of kid sized crutches for her birthday – ha!

She’s been wanting them ever since I got crutches about 3.5 weeks ago after having knee surgery! I never really used my crutches but she had fun playing on them and wanted some her size. My surgery was pretty easy – torn meniscus and a surprising chipped bone. I was in and out in a day and walking the next day. All is healing well. I’m doing PT and hoping to be back on the tennis court soon! I timed my surgery just right – two days after the snow storm hit and the temps have been so cold that there’s been no tennis to play anyway!

We celebrated Samantha all day long on Monday!

Off to school!

I then went up to school at her lunch time with CFA for her and cookies for her class. She wasn’t having a good day. I’m not really sure what was wrong but she was super sad and teary. I think she just had a case of the birthday blues so I checked her out, brought her home to rest, and she was good as new a few hours later! She even went to tumble and landed that tuck multiple times! That night we picked up Zoe’s and opened lots of presents!
