Happy Valentine’s Day from these three loves…
Ok, it’s actually just two. The third love didn’t want his picture taken! It will be a fun day full of candy for them at school! Samantha took these cute cards with a coin for a free ice cream cone on the back!
The boys took the same Valentines they’ve taken the past two years…can’t beat a winner!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Samantha has been complaining about pain in her heel for a few weeks – really since basketball season started. When I noticed she was walking on her toes all the time I decided it was finally time to do something about it! I took her up to see the same pediatric orthopedist that I had taken Spencer to when he was having foot pain.
He diagnosed it as Sever’s disease which is inflammation at growth plate in the heel in growing children. Basically she hit a growth spurt, is super active, and made the area around that growth plate mad. She will grow out of it eventually but will just have to manage the pain with rest, ice, stretching and heel gel inserts. I hate for her to be in pain but glad it’s not something more serious. If it doesn’t get better over the next few weeks we might have to consider a boot!
She did get her first x-ray which she thought was pretty cool!
Because of that x-ray we learned she’s special like Spencer! They both have an extra bone in their foot! Spencer has an accessory navicular bone while Samantha has an os trigonum which is an extra bone behind the ankle bone. I always knew they were special!! Wonder if Maxwell has one too? He’s pretty special as well.
We made it back to school just in time to have lunch with her friends.
Hoping we can get that inflammation down quickly. This girl is too active to to have to slow down!
Samantha’s basketball season has also come and gone…and we built a lot of character this season! ha! Her team only won 2 games and finished 13th out of 13 teams. But, they hustled, learned a few things, and had some good fun. That’s what its all about!
One of the girls that was was supposed to be on her team was never able to play due to an injured foot so they only had 6 players all season but those 6 gave it their all! 2nd grade basketball is funny because the defenders can’t come out of the box – so the only play is to dribble to the side, play defense on offense to block the defenders, and shoot from the side of the goal. Samantha got pretty good at that shot! She played with a ton of hustle and grit and I got lots of pics of her jumping up in the air to make that shot!! I love to watch that blonde ponytail swing!
I was so proud of how hard she played every game. She showed up and gave it her all, that’s for sure. She’s a good little ball handler and I think there might be some more basketball in her future.
I sure do love to watch her play whatever sport she’s playing – and I know GJ does too!

For Samantha’s birthday, she invited a few friends to go roller skating and out to dinner! Originally Robert was going to drive one car and I was going to drive another. But, Maxwell ended having a campout that night and Robert ended up having to go on the campout soooo….
Yep, I rented a passenger van and it was the best decision!! The birthday bus made it all so much more fun.
Of course, I couldn’t have done it without my co-captain!! GJ flew in for the win!
We had a gaggle of girls…

Our first stop was the skating rink! Most of the girls are pretty good skaters!

The girls spent plenty of time wasting quarters too! 🙂
After skating it was back in the van for a VERY loud dance party! Nothing like playing DJ while driving the birthday bus!!
And then to Mountain Brook Club for dinner!
