Spring soccer kicked off this weekend for Samantha with a tournament in “Atlanta”…which means Alpharetta. For some reason they placed our team in the gold division which is extremely competitive. Our coaches appealed it but were denied. Given that, I was very proud of how the girls played against some really tough competition! Also, after the terrible experience in the “stay to play” hotel this past fall, our team booked at a hotel of our choosing and it was fantastic and surrounded by the best shopping and restaurants! Score!
Dinner Friday night…
followed by a little Coverstar making…
The girls were ready to play at their 8am game Saturday morning!
It was chilly and overcast and, by the second half of the game, it was pouring rain. Not pleasant.
Despite the weather, they held their own and only lost 3-2! Proud of them! After everyone got dried off and warmed up, we got lunch at Superica and shopped! The best part of travel tourneys for these girls!!
We then had a 3:30pm game where the girls looked sharp in their new Lulu red headbands!
Unfortunately the headbands didn’t bring the luck we needed and we lost 2-0. That night we had a team pizza dinner…
We were then back up early Sunday for another 8am game…in significantly colder temps! A cold front moved in and it was 38 with a windchill of 30 at kickoff. Brrrr!
That game was rough. We lost 6-1. Ouch. But, good learning experiences all around being the gold bracket! The good news about losing was that it meant we could hit the road and were back in Bham by 11am. I’m not going to complain about there.
Excited for some fun spring soccer!
