Super summer school

June 19, 2014

The boys are back at school this week – both just two days.  I like to keep them going in the summer some so they don’t get out of the routine.  This is Spencer’s first week back at school since maybe January. Poor, sweet baby did not like being left Monday. The teacher said he only cried about 10 minutes…but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually longer. When I took him on Wednesday he knew exactly what was happening and started crying before we even got to the door.  🙁  Break my heart. All I wanted to do was scoop him up and take him back home with me. But, that wouldn’t do him any good.  So, I left him and then walked back over by his class after dropping Maxwell off and thankfully didn’t hear any more crying.  Yay!  I’m sure he’ll get used to it all again in no time.

Just some pics of my Super Baby!

Last day of school!

May 22, 2014

Last Friday was Maxwell’s last day of school!  I can’t believe my 3.5 year old has finished the 2 year old class!  🙂  Seriously, I’m so glad we went on and held him back. That August 30 birthday was just too close to the September 1 cut-off to go on and move him up last year!

First day of school…

and last day!

I stopped sending Spencer in January in an attempt to keep him healthy and ear infection free.  I’m going to get him back up there this summer though.

Maxwell had a GREAT year in Ms. Betsy’s 2 year old class.  His best buddies were James and Lila and I also heard quite a bit about Max and David. I had his parent-teacher conference a couple of weeks ago and Ms. Betsy had nothing but great things to say about him. The first and main word she used to describe him?  SMART.  No surprise to me!  She commented on how he would always remember what they were supposed to do and, if she didn’t follow through on it, he was sure to remind her!  🙂  Specifically, she wrote: “Maxwell has had a super year. He is a smart, sweet boy. He is very comfortable at school and has many friends. Maxwell is easily redirected and will share toys. He knows the daily routine and looks forward to the different activities. He has really grown this year and is ready for his next class.”  Yay!  Makes my heart happy that he had such a good experience.  Here’s his little class minus Ms. Betsy (so sad she’s not in the photo!)…

Middle row: Lila, Ben, Max, Hayes

Front row: Carly, Catherine, Towns, Annabelle

The picture cracks me up.  They all look pretty mad or dazed except for Maxwell. Love his nice little smile!  🙂

Here’s to many more great years of school ahead!

I mean, it’s not terrible.  But, not worth buying either!  As my mom said, “You asked Maxwell if someone brushed his hair before the picture and he said “no”. He wasn’t lying!”  🙂

Spencer got his first School photo this year too…

Sweet baby boy.

They actually gave us 2 proofs for each kid.  Here’s Spencer’s serious face…

and Maxwell’s apparently terrified face!!

ha!  When he came home from school that day I asked him if he smiled pretty for his picture and he said “No, they told us not to smile. They said to just make a normal face.”  Guess this is what you get when you ask for a “normal face”!  too funny.

First Day of School!

August 28, 2013

A break in the birthday posts to tell you about two things.

1. Happy Birthday Susan!!!

susan bday

We tried to get a cute picture for you but…well, you know how that goes!  🙂  We love you SO much and are wishing you a fantastic year ahead full of everything good!!!

2. Monday was the first day of school for both boys!  Spencer is in the nursery with a new teacher, Miss Haley, and Maxwell is in the 2 year old class with Ms. Betsy.

Posing on the steps before heading out!

Oh, I could just eat these sweet boys up!

When I dropped Maxwell off at his room, he immediately found – what else? – a firetruck!

He was loving all the new toys in his classroom and didn’t mind me leaving him one bit!

My big boy!

Spencer wasn’t so happy about me leaving him…

first day of school

But I think that was mostly due to the fact that this was when he was supposed to be asleep for his morning nap!  Not to worry though, he got happy pretty quickly and had a great day.  When I walked back by the room after the parent meeting, I peeked in and saw this…

See him back there just checking things out in that swing?  Here…let me zoom in for you!

first day of school

Oh, I love that baby.

Maxwell loved his first day.  He got to play on the playground THREE times for goodness sake! It doesn’t get much better than that to him!  Spencer’s day was good but he was a worn out little guy when I went to get him.  We were barely out of the parking lot and he looked like this…

first day of school

Aside from a bottle mix-up (they fed him someone else’s bottle of milk/formula?!! I was NOT happy) it all went great.  Here’s to a good year ahead!

School days

May 20, 2013

Happy Monday!  Our weekend was simply exhausting.  Mentally and physically exhausting.  But, we survived and lived to tell the tale which I will tell tomorrow.

Today?  school! Maxwell had his last day of regular school last week…and his first day of summer school today!  😉  He loves it so, why not?!

On the last week of school, they hosted a “Street Party” with all sorts of carnival games for the older kids and bounce houses and face painting for the younger kids.  Everyone also got to go to a performance by children’s singer Roger Day.  Parents were invited to come and so I of course spent all morning up there and loved getting to see Maxwell play with his buddies.

It was so interesting to see these boys together.  They are only 2.5 but already play pretty rough!  wrestling in the bounce house for sure!

Maxwell looks so big in this next picture.  James and William are just about his same height but I think they were just crouching down a bit..

I hadn’t packed Maxwell a lunch because I planned to leave a little early with him and take him out to lunch.  Luckily the teachers had some spare graham crackers he could eat during lunch time so he didn’t feel too left out.  I don’t think it would have mattered though – he still ate several bites of Will-wam’s lunch which I’m told is the norm for him!  ha!

The next day was his actual last day of school.  Hard to believe he looked like this at the beginning of the school year…

first day of school

My baby has officially turned into a big boy.  I’m so grateful he had Ms. Jen as his teacher this year along with Ms. Jackie and Ms. Tonya.  I think he and Ms. Jackie had a special little relationship…he really liked her.

They had the sweetest group of kids in their class.

So thankful for a great year in the Older Toddlers class!  Can’t wait for next year!!
