Weekend!

March 10, 2014

Little rewind back to Thursday night when Robert and Maxwell got to go to “Dinner with Dad” up at school!

Maxwell got to show Robert around his classroom and eat some dinner with friends.  Fun!  Not surprised on who he ended up eating with…

Miss Lila herself!  🙂

Friday night was pretty crazy with a trip to the Mexaurant and the HD!

Saturday, I had to go to a baby shower…

So Robert took the boys to run out some energy.

By the time I got home, Robert had proved he was the most fun ever by getting out the bounce house!  We spent the rest of the weekend jumping for joy about how beautiful the weather was!

We even had our buddy, Jack, over to jump too!  It was such a great weekend, it was practically electrifying!

Thankful for these relaxing weekends at home!

Nashville

February 4, 2014

As I mentioned yesterday, I spent the weekend in Nashville with 3 of my longest friends…my “forever friends”.  I’ve known one since preschool, one since kindergarten and one since 7th grade.  We had the BEST time laughing, eating, laughing, shopping, and laughing.  🙂  I also got to see my great college friend that lives in Nashville while we were there.  It was such a fun weekend with besties from all parts of life!  I also have to say that Nashville is an AWESOME city.  It was fun when I went to school there but it’s a completely different place now.  So cosmopolitan and cultural but still maintains that down home feel.  We had some of the best meals of my life and the whole city is such a hot spot of all things cool.  Go Nash-vegas!  If you’re planning a trip, do whatever you can to eat dinner at Rolf and Daughters. Ahhh-mazing.  And go check out Pinewood Social.  Great food and such a neat concept.  We stayed at the brand new Omni (which was packed because there were auditions for The Voice next door!) and it was super nice and just fantastic all around.

The best part of the trip though was just getting to spend time with these girls…

By the way, as much as I love my new clutch and new Frye boots, this was my favorite purchase of the weekend!

I came home with two for two very sweet boys.  🙂

Meanwhile, back in the Ham, Robert was being the best dad ever and keeping the boys entertained with the swings, doughnuts, a trip to HD and even building a fort!

Go Dad!

As much fun as I had on my weekend away, the best part was definitely coming home…

Love my girls and love my boys!

A little more snow

January 31, 2014

Today just some more pictures from our two days living in a winter wonderland…

The boys were trying really hard to build a “Frosty” but the snow was so powdery it just wouldn’t stick together…

But Maxwell and I got out there the next day and made two snowmen!  success and happy boy!

The leaf hats were his idea!  🙂

When we were outside on Tuesday we saw this coming down the road…

Needless to say, we didn’t get our mail that day!

On Wednesday morning we did bundle up and venture down the road to grab coffee at Church St. which was actually open.  Robert was literally skating down the road.

It was all such an adventure.

Now that we’ve had our snow fun, I’m very happy for a weekend in the 60’s!  Happy Friday all!

Snowpocalypse

January 29, 2014

So…Tuesday. Oh, Tuesday.  The day started normally with a weather forecast for cold temps and maybe a “light dusting” of snow.  The flurries started at 9:00 – so fun! – but then it just kept coming.  Susan had taken the boys to the library but then came home early when the weather started to get bad.  By 10:40 she was on her way home and Robert left his office as well.  That’s when the adventure began!  The roads got really bad, really fast.  Robert’s office is at the top of a hill and he didn’t even make it down the hill before slipping and sliding everywhere and eventually getting rear-ended. He then got into the parking lot of Target at Brookwood Mall, bought some boots, gloves and a hat and took off on foot.  An hour and approximately 4 snowy miles later we were VERY glad to see this coming up the driveway…

Go USA and go Dad!

Unfortunately, many were not as lucky as Robert and didn’t make it home – Susan included!  As I’m typing this Monday night, Susan is stranded at the Birmingham Country Club!  From the reports I have read on Facebook it’s been a total snowpocalypse – cars abandoned on the side of the roads, wrecks everywhere, people sitting on interstates for hours, children stranded at the junior high and high school.  What a mess!  The main problem was that the meteorologist didn’t predict this so no one was prepared.  Kids went to school this morning and then, at 10:30, they announced school was closing at 10:45.  By that point, the roads were already virtually impassable.  By 2:00 we had 3 inches of snow on the ground and everything looked like a (dangerous!) winter wonderland!

I am just so grateful that Robert made it home, fender bender or not!  I’m also so, so grateful that I ended up taking Maxwell up to the doctor on Monday so I wasn’t either trying to get him up to the doctor yesterday or stuck at home with a super sick kid and no way to get medicine for him.  I will say, after only 2 days on amoxicillin he’s already feeling worlds better.  Yay!

With everyone happily safe at home, we all bundled up and got out to play in the snow!

I took tons of pics with my real camera so will get those up soon.  It was a stressful, eventful and ultimately fun day!
