Boo and Brr!

November 5, 2014

After the parade we hooked up with some friends and decided to just start walking toward the houses to trick-or-treat.  It was still early but there were already some sprinkles coming down and it was getting really cold and windy!  We decided to start early to we could try to get home early!

Maxwell knew exactly what was going on and couldn’t wait to hit up the first house!  Spencer was pretty clueless so I helped him along a bit…

He figured out the game pretty quickly and perfected his own version of “titateat!”

Maxwell was a good big brother and had no problem taking Spencer up to houses by themselves…

But, if there was a dog outside the house, Maxwell would quickly say “we’ll just skip that one!”  🙂

Some of the friends we were with had built this Thomas the Train over their wagon and all the kids (and parents!) thought it was the neatest thing ever!

Spencer just about burst when he actually got to ride in it for a bit!

Maxwell was continuing on his “serious” streak and couldn’t really be bothered for pictures…

or to keep up with the group!  🙂

halloween

In his defense, it was a big, slow-moving group all with kids younger than him except for one. It’s tough to be the oldest sometimes!  🙂 He did fine though and loved getting lots of candy and seeing all the cool decorations.

Spencer was doing so good putting all of his candy in his basket.  He kept bringing me a Blow Pop to open and I would tell him that we weren’t going to eat the candy now and he needed to put it in his basket. After about the 4th time he asked, I finally gave in to my cute little Mickey and let him have the Blow Pop.  He was so happy he even sat in the stroller for a little while!

By this point, it was starting to get really cold and windy.  Just as we were turning down the last street to make the loop back to home, Spencer was walking on the curb and totally bit it scraping his little hand and biting his tongue.  We unfortunately had our first (and thankfully only!) tears of the night.  So pitiful.

After some hugs from Dad, a new sucker and his Mickey sweatshirt to warm up, he was back in business.

On the home stretch, we ran into 2 of Maxwell’s buds – Ben and James.  That made my little construction worker pretty happy!

It was honestly freezing and really windy by that point so we were more than happy to get home by 6:00, warm up and inspect all of our candy!  Which, let me just say, all that candy and not one single Butterfinger. Humph. Oh well, it was still a really fun night, Butterfinger or not!  🙂

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Parade

November 4, 2014

Once we were all decked out in our costumes, we headed over to the annual Halloween parade in Crestline Village.  Our friends parked in our driveway so we got to snap a quick pic with Hannah and Sally before leaving…

Cuties.

We made our way over and found a good spot and waited for the fun to begin!

We ended up next to my friend Kelli and her husband, Wade, who cracked me up all ready to sweat to the oldies!

I then tried to get a picture with my cute boys but these were the best I got…

For as excited as Maxwell was for Halloween, he was strangely solemn and serious all night long.  I don’t know if it was just overwhelming to him or if he was just taking his trick-or-treating business very serious. Whatever it was, I barely got any of my normal Maxwell smiles out of him all night.  He kept promising me he was having fun though!

On the other hand, this one wasn’t having any trouble smiling and loving it all!

mickey

When the parade started, both boys were just kind of in awe of all the floats and candy that was being thrown at us!

Spencer was SO cute pointing at all the new floats as they came down the street.

And don’t let anyone tell you the parade is just for kids…check out this guy’s face!  🙂

The parade always ends with our favorite – the fire truck!

Another fun parade in the books!  It was then time for trick-or-treating…come back tomorrow!

Pumpkin Carving

October 30, 2014

On Monday night, we went up to The Club for the pumpkin carving night of fun! It was so nice…they had tons of pumpkins all scooped out and ready to be carved with plenty of carving knives and stencils for you to use.  Seeing as our two assistants had very short attention spans when it came to carving, I went with something super simple…

halloween

I think Spencey approved! (and, for the record, he ain’t afraid of no ghosts!)

Maxwell and Robert tried to get a little more involved…

While they were a more creative than me, simplicity ultimately won out on their pumpkin too!

Maxwell kept asking where Mickey’s eyes were!  ha!  I tried to get a cute pumpkin pic of both boys but, well…

A pumpkin picture of one boy will work fine for this year!

We then stayed for dinner and the boys got to spend all night dancing to the DJ on the light up dance floor – their favorite!  Loving all these fun Halloween events!

Open House

October 13, 2014

Happy Monday!

Last week the boys’ school had their Open House night where we got go see their rooms and meet their teachers again. I basically do that every time I take them to school, but it was a treat for Robert to get to see it all. We stopped by Spencer’s room first and said “hi” to Ms. Alice and then headed over to Maxwell’s room with Ms. Kathy…

ms kathy

She’s the sweetest, nicest lady and I’m so thankful Maxwell has her for his teacher! Same goes for Ms. Alice too!

It was a fun night!

See you tomorrow!

Wilmington

October 8, 2014

As I mentioned earlier, Robert and I went out of town this past weekend…kid free!  whoa! We traveled to Wilmington, NC for the wedding of one of my good friends, Sara, from my Dallas days with Neiman Marcus.  It was a GORGEOUS weekend along the river and we had a blast. I loved getting to see some friends that I hadn’t seen in waaaaay too long!

NC

I laughed more on this trip than I have in a long time thanks to my always entertaining friend, Vicky. She’s the funniest and the best. And Nancy is one of my besties from college who now lives in San Fran so getting to be in the same city with her was a major treat.

NC

The wedding was beautiful and Sara was a gorgeous bride, of course!

Robert was a great sport despite this during the reception…

NC

Yep, that’s him checking the score of the second half of the AL v. Ole Miss game that did not end the way we wanted. He was a trooper though and put on a smile and still hit the dance floor with me!

He really is the best wedding date. I’m a lucky girl!

Meanwhile, back at home, the boys weren’t missing us at all because they got to spend the weekend with GJ.  They are lucky boys!

As much fun as the weekend away was, I sure was glad to get back home where I belong!
