Ice Ice Baby

January 17, 2017

What a BEAUTIFUL long weekend we just had – sunny and 72 degrees in January! Even crazier is that we were covered in ice one week ago! Yep, last Friday the kids didn’t have school because of the impending winter weather. Now, nothing started falling until Friday night but when it started, it stuck! We woke up Saturday morning to 16 degree temps and everything covered in ice. Unfortunately it was just ice – no snow at all – so not a lot of fun for the kids. That didn’t stop them from wanting to get out and at least try to play in it…

It was bitterly cold. I think it was in the low 20s when we were out there playing. I used to live in NYC and could handle some majorly cold weather but I guess my bones are too Southern now because it was almost more than I could stand! It didn’t seem to bother the boys at all…they stayed out there forever trying to dig holes in the ice!

I love these pics of Spence…

and I really love this picture of Maxwell. If you zoom in you can even see his breath in the sunshine…

All in all the ice was fun, not as much fun as snow but we’ll take it. Of course, my favorite part was definitely this….

The first day of ice was fun…by the second day we were all going a little stir crazy! More to come tomorrow…

Christmas morning

January 6, 2017

We woke up Christmas morning happy to see that Santa had been there! We told Maxwell he couldn’t get up until 6:30 and he was standing right next to my bed at 6:30 and 30 seconds! We got everyone else up and made the kids wait at the stairs before coming down. I love these pictures…Maxwell blocking his eyes so he doesn’t see anything before he’s all the way down and Spencer helping Baby down the stairs. The best….

Santa was pretty good to everyone this year!

The kids checked out their haul – and honestly were a little disappointed! ha! Maxwell was missing his Millennium Falcon and Spencer had no remote controlled shark. hmmmm….

They still had plenty of fun stuff to check out though…

Baby loved her baby doll and did a good job feeding it and feeding herself! ha!

Stocking stuffers are always the best part in my opinion…

(yes, those are TicTacs Baby is dumping into her mouth!)

Just when we thought that was it, we discovered ole Santa had actually left two presents in my office! Sneaky Santa and two happy boys!

The remote controlled shark was hilarious for all! It took some getting used to to make it go but provided plenty of entertainment for sure! Check out this video.

It was then time for some toy assembly…

Christmas Eve

January 5, 2017

Like last year, Christmas Eve was unseasonably warm. Not very festive but it did make dressing for church easier not having to worry about coats!

We went to the 12:00 family service. The boys did great…Samantha did ok.  I took her out to the parlor for much of the service but she enjoyed being there and I enjoyed getting to dress her up and show her off!  🙂 She was looking pretty cute in my old dress!

And the boys had on their holiday red and white, of course! (and I cannot get enough of Spencer’s sweet face in this picture!! 😍)

I sure do love this crew!!

We got a family pic at church but the sun caused some squinting and funny faces so this is the best we got!

We didn’t do much that night but Maxwell did write a goodbye note to Gingerbread Elf!

After dinner we put out our cookies…

It was then off to bed to let the visions of sugarplums dance in our head!

Outtakes

December 28, 2016

You wouldn’t know it by looking our card but I did actually pay a photographer to take pictures of us this year! They didn’t turn out so well to say the least, hence the card using pictures I took. I was optimistic and actually snapped this super cute mirror selfie of us before we left!

But, we just had bad luck with the photog that morning, mainly because it was freezing. FREEZING! My kids were not having it…especially poor Maxwell who has zero body fat to keep him warm! ha! Here are the best of the bunch (which isn’t saying much!)

Please look at Spencer and Samantha in this picture – blue eyed twinkies!

This pretty much sums it up – Baby is miserable, Spencer is looking everywhere except at the camera, and Maxwell has a (literal!) frozen smile on his face! Ha! Merry merry!

I think I’m sticking to the pictures I take myself next year!

Tis the season

December 20, 2016

Holiday happenings around here….

Maxwell had his Christmas program at school last week on Wednesday and Thursday. Sadly, I had to go to San Francisco for work and had to miss it. But, I was able to go to the dress rehearsal on Tuesday and had a front row seat!

Maxwell did great. He stood perfectly still and sang his songs just like he was supposed to. No surprise there!

Thankfully Robert was Super Dad while I was gone and got to the school early to get a good seat for the main event…

christmas program

He also went to Maxwell’s class Christmas party and took all 3 kids to basketball practice! A HUGE thanks to him and, of course, Mrs. Susan for keeping things running smoothly while I was gone.

Other holiday fun…
