Red Devils

February 19, 2019

Maxwell’s basketball season finished up a few weeks ago and what a FANTASTIC season it was! I’d say it was largely thanks to his awesome coach – Robert! These guys played so hard and improved a ton over the course of the season. They were aggressive (really aggressive! I would compare 2nd grade basketball to wrestling in some games! ha!) and had great attitudes all season. They lost some but won more and ended the season with a record of 8 and 4.

They played incredibly well in the tournament and made it all the way to the Final Four where they had to go up against the only undefeated team in the league. It was a great game and our team held their own. Unfortunately, they had a heartbreaking loss by only 2 points. So tough but they played their hearts out and I was so proud of all of them – Coach included!!

USS Alabama

January 29, 2019

This past weekend the boys got to go sleep on a battleship! Maxwell’s Boy Scout troop took a trip down to Mobile to spend the night on the USS Alabama and, because I was out of town, Spencer got to tag along.

They did a scavenger hunt to explore the ship and then had pizza and watched a movie.

They then settled in for a comfy night’s sleep in their cozy bunks! ha!

I’m not sure there was a whole lot of quality sleep that night and they were up and out of there by 6:30am the next day!

A pretty cool thing to get to do…and a thing I’m glad Robert got to do instead of me! πŸ™‚ We love the scouts!

While the cat’s away

January 22, 2019

The mice did play! As I said, I was out of town for work all last week and I’m not sure my crew missed me too much…they were too busy having fun! There were movies…

Boy Scout meetings (that everyone got to go to, not just the boy scout!)…

and haircuts and basketball practice and even PJ day at school! Robert did a great job getting everyone up and ready in the morning…

even if Susan did have to do Samantha’s hair everyday! ha! πŸ™‚ While I know they had fun, I do think they were ready for me to get home. Samantha’s teary voice on Thursday night asking me if I was going to be home by dinner on Friday just about did me in. I sure was glad to see these 3 on Friday afternoon…

We celebrated with pizza and ice cream and there was no place else I wanted to be!

all 3

A huge thank you to Robert and Susan for doing all the jobs so well last week! I couldn’t get by without you both!

Back to Naples

January 17, 2019

Back to Naples and more glorious days at the beach! The kids are of the age now where they can play happily on their own and I don’t have to worry about anyone drowning, eating sand, or trying to run away down the beach! Freedom! Heaven! I was more than happy to sit in my chair and take pictures of them having fun. Robert still gets roped into football…but I don’t think he minds too much! Β πŸ™‚

Roll Tide in Miami!

January 16, 2019

After Robert found out Alabama would be playing in the Orange Bowl while we were in Naples it was too good of an opportunity to pass up so he got us some tickets and we made the easy 2 hour drive over to Miami for the game. We planned it out and were able to have lunch at Houston’s! Woohoo!

The game was really fun – even more so because Alabama was leading from the very first play!

We had fantastic seats, good weather, and pleasant seat mates! Win Win all around!

The only downside was trying to get an Uber after the game. We had to walk probably 2 miles to and then it was a madhouse of people looking for their ride. But we made it back to the hotel and were so glad we went.

The kids were having plenty of fun back in Naples…

Very thankful we made the trip to the Orange Bowl instead of heading out to Cali a week later! What a bummer of a game. As Robert said, “We’ll get him next year!” Roll Tide!
