We spent the night in Montgomery last weekend to get in some fun cousin pool time…
and to celebrate a big birthday for these two!!
Happy birthday Lou Lou and Granddaddy!! We sure do love you and hope this year ahead is a great one!!

After our wet trek to Secret Falls, we got all cleaned up, had a good lunch and then hit the course to play a few holes!
All was going well until Maxwell tried to go retrieve his ball that was out in the drained lake. Not his best idea! I didn’t see him go out there but then heard him yelling, “Help!! It’s like quicksand!!” hahahaha! I looked over and he was shin deep in mucky mud!
Needless to say, he was not a happy camper!
Samantha and I took our cart and went to the house for some towels and clean socks. We got him cleaned up as best as we could and finished a few more holes until the rain came. A great afternoon!
That night we had dinner with our friends the Woods. We had gone to the club with them on Friday night…
and on Saturday night we went to their house for a great meal and some marshmallow tennis (which sounds exactly like what it is!)
There was also some Pie in the Face…
and a pretty remarkable sunset!
It was a great stay in the mountains! We all loved the break from the heat and we sure loved having the whole family back together again!!
Despite some drizzly weather in Tuxedo, NC it was a bright and happy day on Friday when we got to pick up our favorite camper! Samantha got the first hug – no surprise there!
He and Spencer then gave each other a firm handshake! ha!!
It was fun to meet some of his cabinmates and say goodbye to his awesome counselors, Hans and Marshall.

It was so good too see him and hear about all of his adventures! Going on an overnight trip without knowing anyone, throwing axes and shooting rifles, learning to eat things he’d never eaten before because he was so hungry! Camp teaches you all kinds of things! 🙂 They posted a few more pictures from the day before pickup and Maxwell as in a few good ones…
After pickup we drove over to spend the weekend in Highlands and sure were happy to be back together as a party of 5!

Today is a big day. After 14 years with my firm, I quit my job two weeks ago and today is my final day of work. It’s bittersweet for sure but definitely the right decision. It’s become very clear that there are way more important things than my job and I cannot wait to spend the next year focusing on my four most important things!
I don’t know what’s next but I’m going to enjoy some time off and figure out where to go from here. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the change of pace!
This also means we won’t be seeing our other favorite person 5 days a week. I don’t know how to thank you, Susan, for raising my babies alongside me. They are better people because you have been in their life. Your tireless energy, selfless attitude, servant’s heart, and giant love have sustained them, fed them, nurtured them and helped them grow into wonderful little people. They have seen more adventure in their little lives than most people will in their whole life all because of you!! They have trekked all over this great state and have been to just about every park, jumpy place, and attraction there is! Thank you for the way you love my babies!!

We love you Susan. This might be the end of the every day but it’s definitely not the end. We will see you soon and I can’t wait to see what’s next for us all!!
While in Naples we did a few fun things besides just swim and go to the beach. Robert and Maxwell played golf at Tiburon. I think it was really really hot but they made it through. We might turn Maxwell into a golfer yet!
While Maxwell and Robert were playing golf, we played our own game of Pinball at home! the best!
We also all played golf together – just of the mini variety! We sweated it out on the mini golf course and, I have to say, it was actually a lot of fun!

My hole in one ended up being on the “hole of the day” so we got a free pass to come back and play again! woohoo!
Finally, the boys all went on a fishing adventure with Captain Chris. They had a great day. Spencer caught 25 fish and Maxwell caught 21!
