They cancelled school for Friday but we weren’t quite sure if it was actually going to be a true snow day or just a sleet/freezing rain kind of day. Boy were we excited to see this early Friday morning!
Way more snow than we expected and perfect for playing and sledding! The kids were up and out by 7:30am and made it all over town with sleds and friends.
What a fun, fun day!! The boys both made it to either CCB and MBC to sled on some big hills with friends. Samantha hadn’t made it that far so that afternoon she convinced her brothers to bundle up one more time so we could all go sled at MBC together.
Nothing beats a Friday snow day!!
By Saturday the sun came out and everything melted away so we could get around. A perfect hit of winter weather!
We still decided to head to Naples after Christmas even if GJ was still in London. Unfortunately, our travel day did not go as planned! Our 10:45am flight into Atlanta kept getting pushed back and Delta could not confirm us on another flight until the next evening! No thank you. We tried to fly Southwest direct into Orlando and rent a car but, that flight ended up getting majorly delayed as well. By 11:30am we were standing at the airport and made the decision to cut our losses and start driving! We pulled out of the parking deck and headed to Naples!
Robert drove the whole way through – about 12 hours – and while it was a very long day and late night, we sure were happy to waked up in Naples the next morning! This only worked because GJ was coming back to Birimingham the next week and could drive my car back. Things just have a way of working out!
The beach was crazy crowded all week – and also strangely foggy for a few of the days – but that didn’t stop us! We hung on the beach, went out for excellent meals, and watched some movies at home. Can’t beat it!
Lobster at Campiello’s!
We also had several good Gary sightings!
The fog!
Samantha and Maxwell dug quite a deep hole!
We also watched the final minutes of the Bama v. Michigan game with our new friends on the beach…wish it had gone the other way!
Roll Tide anyway!
GJ arrived home late on New Year’s Eve so we all (well, most of us!) stayed up until midnight to ring in 2025! We then headed back to Birmingham on the 1st with a thankfully uneventful travel day.
It was great to end the year and start a new one in my favorite place with my favorite people!
Happy New Year!
After all of the Santa was sorted and tidied, we hosted everyone for Christmas lunch…well, everyone minus GJ! She was on her way to London with Keath’s family! We missed her but glad she got to go on an adventure. I had the tables all set and we prepared quite a delicious spread…
Before everyone arrived, I remembered one more gift for the kids…a Cameo from the Rizzler!! hahaha!
Watching them laugh while watching then video was my favorite part of Christmas!
Samantha was looking cute in her new Aviator Nation set!
Everyone arrived after noon and we had quite a nice meal and plenty of merriment!
The kids all spent most of the day on the trampoline…and we all ended the day with a little night jump!
Best Christmas with my favorite Christmas elves!
After leaving some non-cookie treats out for Santa…
We were all pleased to see that he came to visit and brought some good stuff!
GJ always comes through the the cool gifts…and plenty of cold hard cash! ha!
When they thought all was opened, there was maybe one more surprise…I sent them to look out front before they finally turned around!
and saw these cool Alabama prints for the boys’ bathroom. Nice!
And because you know I love it, there was still maybe even one more surprise!
All Samantha has wanted was a trampoline. I told her over and over that we do not have space in our yard for a trampoline. I wasn’t lying! We don’t have space…but GJ does!
Three happy jumpers on Christmas morning!! Merry Christmas!
