While I was home watching Spencer show off at football and Samantha show off at tumbling, Robert and Maxwell were rafting down the Chattahoochee! Robert very nicely agreed to go on the Scout campout with this crew (plus a few others not pictured)…

They said the rafting was fun but too short. Next time they should do the more adventorous route.

They then camped out with only a few shenanigans from the boys.

The real adventure came on the drive home. Robert was about 2 hours from Birmingham driving GJ’s Escalade – the Escalade that got a new battery and alternator just about a month ago – and the power steering went out, then the AC failed, then all the electronics went black. Not good at all. Robert pulled over and they managed to squeeze all of the boys into the cars of the other two dads on the trip. Robert then got to sit on the side of the road for two hours waiting for the wrecker to get there from Birmingham. He was very glad to see Courtney pull up in his pink wrecker!!

Robert then got to make a new friend in Courtney on their two hour drive back to Birmingham. ha! I met him at the Cadillac dealership where we dumped the car for them to deal with. Always an adventure!! I’m so thankful for Robert’s good nature and calm demeanor – both on the campout and on the trip home! We’re so lucky to have him.
Maxwell had a pretty awesome 13th birthday part at PIG – Paintball is good! We rented a van to take all of the boys out there. It’s in the middle of nowhere and is a very no fuss, no muss party. Perfect for 13 year old boys!!

Robert was a good sport and played too. He was a hot commodity! All of the boys wanted “Mr. Brown” on their team! I’ll spare you the picture of the bullet wound on his belly – gonna be a while until that thing heals!! ha!

Maxwell had a great time with a really good crew of boys.

Thankful for 13 years with this kid.

Happy birthday Maxwell!
First, Happy Birthday Keath! Hope it’s a great day!
When we got back from our boat excursion Sunday night we had dinner reservations at Marcus at Baha Mar. We got all cleaned up again!

This meal might have been my favorite of the trip. We started with some conch croquettes that were insane. Everything was so good! Maxwell continued his lobster streak with lobster mac & cheese…

and these two ended the meal and the trip with a sugar bang!

Monday was our last day and we let the kids order room service breakfast. The water park opened at 10:00 and we didn’t have to leave for the airport until 11:45…so why not?! They made the most of the hour they had in there!

That’s Spencer!

and that’s Maxwell!

Samantha said “no thank you!” π
We made it to the airport with no issue and were even able to complete our Global Entry interviews after going through customs so now we will all have Global Entry for our upcoming trip to Paris!! Woohoo! A perfect ending to an absolutely wonderful trip! I think we can all agree that it’s better in the Bahamas!!
What we saw at the other end of the trail was this beautiful beach and the most fun beach bar ever! It was colorful and lively with music and karaoke, drinks, food, and a beach to play on! Perfection.

Even better was the fact that it was basically empty! Captain Ryan said there are usually boats lined up out in the water but there were none today because that side of the island was where the rough waters were so boats couldn’t get it. It was only our boat and two others with a big group from Atlanta that had come up and docked on the south side. We took full advantage and enjoyed some drinks, played on the beach, and swam in the water!

The water was just as pretty and as turquoise as I hoped it would be!

I mean…this makes me so happy.

The boys brought a football so easily kept themselves entertained…

as did Samantha!

The very best day!!

After a couple of hours we got back on the boat…

and stopped for one last quick snorkel…

before heading back to the marina.

We are so glad we found Captain Ryan and had an epic boat day!! It was a day that proved it really is better in the Bahamas!!
