More camp

August 14, 2020

We fully enjoyed cooling off Saturday afternoon in the lake! Just like the day before, Samantha tore up the zipline and everyone had fun on the coaster!

Maxwell and I enjoyed some time to chill out on the tubes!

That night after dinner we went to Campfire. The kids got to pick a rock to add to the wall…

and then we enjoyed some songs and skits around the fire to end the night!

The next morning Robert and Maxwell went with the guide down to the river to fly fish so Spencer, Samantha and I hit up the climbing wall and the archery station one more time. After lunch and several more games of foosball it was time to head back to Birmingham. I’d say we all had a great time at camp and I can see why Maxwell – and Spencer soon! – love it there so much!

Thanks for a wonderful time Falling Creek!

On Saturday we started bright and early at the climbing wall!

But, we learned something new and had fun. After lunch we finished up that bird house!

Pecky has a new home!

By that point, we were hot and tired and couldn’t wait to jump into the lake. More tomorrow!

That evening they did games and trivia in the gym. It was fun and funny – and also a bit scary because the biggest thunderstorm ever rolled in around us. Pretty sure we heard a tree get struck by lightning very close to us! Thankfully it all stopped by the time we had to head back to our cabin.

All the campy things

August 11, 2020

Day 2 at Falling Creek and we did all the campy things! We were up bright and early and Samantha REALLY wanted to ring the morning bell. She got her wish!

We then had Morning Watch, breakfast, and a little foosball (we played a lot of foosball while there!)…

Then it was off to activities! We fired rifles…

shot bow and arrows…

and went on a hike to this overlook!

The hike was really hot and the guide was walking pretty fast for my hikers short legs so we were pretty tired (and a little cranky) by the time it was done. But we did see the pigs!

camp

After a good lunch complete with cookies everyone cheered up. That afternoon we took our long piece of wood and started making it into a birdhouse…

and then it was time to get into the lake! We were all happy to be in the cool water and the kids were loving the coaster slide, the rope swing, and the zip line most of all! Samantha probably went down that zip line 20 times and I’ve got all the pics to prove it. So many pics they’re going to have to wait until tomorrow! See you then!

Falling Creek

August 10, 2020

Both boys were supposed to go to camp this summer but that obviously didn’t happen! The camp then offered several weekends of Family Camp and we signed right up! There were about 20 families there and each family had their own cabin. The staff were so good to keep everyone distanced, meals were easily transportable to eat anywhere around camp, and masks were on everyone! It was such a fun chance for me and Samantha to fully experience all of the things Maxwell got to do at camp last year and the things Robert has gotten to do on the Father Son weekends. It was the best introduction to camp for Spencer and he’s ready to go back next summer!

camp

We got there Thursday afternoon, got checked in and had dinner and a scavenger hunt…

The final clue on the scavenger hunt led us to s’mores on the hillside! So pretty!
