After the cars from Lowe’s were such a hit, I ordered some other kits off of Amazon that were made by Stanley. The boys got a monster truck and a digger. These were way harder to put together and required much more of my help. You also really couldn’t paint them the way you could the other ones. We got them done but they weren’t quite as fun as the Lowe’s ones.

and she built a bird house for our friend, Pecky! Hope Pecky likes his new home!

Again, I do love a good craft!!

We’re definitely using our time to make lots of crafts! I had picked up these pull-back cars at Lowe’s before we hunkered down and they were a bit hit! The kids had fun building them…

and racing them!

This might have to substitute for our Pinewood Derby this year – not sure when or if that is going to be rescheduled. So sad because the boys’ cars are awesome this year! I’ll do another post with them soon.

I do love a good craft project!

One of the good things about the quarantine is plenty of time to explore outdoor areas in Birmingham. Last week we checked out Red Mountain and took a hike to Haskell’s Hideaway.

We started out on the main, wide trail…

but quickly veered off onto the narrow, slightly more treacherous trail. Even though the sign said the trail was “Most Difficult”…

the kids all did great – they’re expert hikers from our time in Highlands!

Eventually we made it to Haskell’s Hideaway – a really neat rope bridge and tree house!

We hung out there for a while to rest and have a snack. Pretty cool place to hang out!

We then hiked back a different way and found a few centipedes…

and an old mine shaft!

All in all it took about 2 hours and was a great way to keep my monkeys entertained!

We might have been socially distanced on St. Patrick’s Day but we still looked the part!

Doing what we can to get the luck of the Irish on our side!

Well, we’ve made it one week through this strange time we’re living in. Robert’s been working non-stop so, even though he’s home, we never see him. The kids and I have been doing our best to fill the days and not drive each other crazy. Thankfully, we’ve mostly had beautiful weather so we’ve been outside as much as possible! Just a few things we’ve done…

Lots of walks…

Plenty of coloring (thanks for this book, GJ! she loves it!)…

Games, games, and more games…

A car ride to get out of the house and do curbside pick up of some cookies (where we waited for 45 minutes and the kids almost killed each other in the car!)…

Made banana bread…

and so many more activities and crafts I’ll share soon!

I’m not gonna lie, it’s been rough adjusting to this new “normal” and we’ve all felt like this a time or two….

But, for as many of those moments as we’ve had, we’ve had more of these moments…
