6th grade dance

We’ve had so many events the past week I don’t know how we did it! But we did and we had a LOT of fun! First up…the 6th grade dance! I helped set up for the dance during the day last week on Friday. It looked awesome!

As a graduation gift, we got Maxwell the pair of Nike Philly dunks he’d been eyeing. He was surprised and pleased!

I think he was pretty excited to wear them to the dance…

They had a photog at the dance and some of the pics are pretty funny!

Maxwell said it was fun and that’s all that matters to me!

Lots of fun school stuff the last few weeks…

Field trips! Spencer has been to the zoo, Vulcan and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame!

Maxwell got to go to a Barons game with the whole grade and out to eat at Mexico Lindo with his spanish class!

He also got to present his 1990s decade project complete with MTV shirt!

Samantha has had the ABC countdown the last month with all sorts of fun dress up days!

We also wrapped up end of year teacher gifts and handed those out!

Confirmation

Maxwell and the group of 6th graders at Cathedral Church of the Advent have been going through confirmation class the past several months. It’s been quite a commitment and I’m been so proud of how Maxwell has upheld that commitment! He only missed Sunday confirmation class two times – once because he was sick and once for a scout campout. They also went on a weekend retreat. Yesterday was confirmation day and Robert and I actually decided to get confirmed and join the Advent as well. Ronnie was Maxwell’s sponsor and everyone was able to come in town for the service and lunch at the club after.

It was a special morning and I’m glad we could all be together. I guess we’re Episcopalian now! ha! The denomination doesn’t matter much to me but what does matter is that the kids have a good church home with a thriving youth group and lots of buddies. Advent fits that bill and we’re happy to be there!
