4 eyes

I used to have 20/20 vision but then I started staring at a computer all day.  So, now I wear glasses.  I only wear them when I’m driving or watching tv.  I would wear them at the movies if I ever went to the movies.  Same goes for concerts.  Robert got lasik but I don’t think my eyes are bad enough for that.  Besides, wearing glasses is kind of like having one extra accessory to your outfit.  One more way to express a little personality, right?  Given that, I decided it was time to update my glasses….

New pair 1 – they’re purple.  You can’t really tell they’re purple but they are and I love that.

New pair 2 – nerd glasses.  I really wanted some cool nerd glasses because, let’s face it, I’m a nerd.  Mission accomplished and I think they’re awesome.

Maxwell got some new glasses too…

Poor Mr. Potato Head is now blind as a bat.

Haircut!

We had a good weekend – and it’s not over yet!  Thank you MLK for the day off!

One thing I learned this weekend – cutting molars is the PITS!  Maxwell must have all of his molars coming in at once because he is miserable.  The poor guy is clearly in pain and drooling like I’ve never seen.  Sleep just didn’t happen on Saturday night – for him or me.  He did get a nap in on Sunday afternoon but it was while laying on me in the rocking chair.  Let’s all just hope those darn teeth come on through quickly because I’m not sure how much more of this we can take.

In other news – Maxwell got his first haircut!!  We went to Jean Anne at The Hair Studio and she was great.  She gave him just a trim, just like I wanted. His hair is shaped up, out of his eyes and he’s looking sharp…but because she didn’t cut off those curls he’s still looking like my baby!  🙂

Jean Anne was so sweet…but I guess that’s just how you are when you look at life through rose-colored glasses!  🙂

Maxwell was wholly unimpressed with the whole operation…

But we took snacks and Nanner to entertain and keep him happy…

The whole process didn’t even take 5 minutes and went great.  Phew!  When we got home, Maxwell was proud to show off his awesome new do!

Alright, I’ll admit it.  His hair is long…and shaggy…and getting in his eyes.  As much as it pains me to say it, I think it’s time for his first hair cut. Just a trim.  Just enough to get it out of his eyes and clean it up.  Just enough to keep him still looking like my baby boy.

Can we all observe a moment of silence for these curls…

I will miss them.  My baby is growing up…and I don’t like it one bit.  Wish us luck at the salon!

kitchen essentials

Yea, he likes playing with spatulas, spoons and apparently, measuring cups…

Now how long until he actually learns to USE them?

Cause I’m hungry!

Beach baby, beach baby out in the sun!

We took Maxwell to the beach while in Naples two weeks ago.  We were all ready for a fun day playing in the sand…

and things seem to go well at first…

but it ultimately ended like this.

Not a fan of the beach apparently.  We weren’t going to be deterred though and tried again the next day.  After a little time on my lap getting used to everything, Maxwell finally ventured onto a towel…

and started to play with the sand…

We then played with the sand a little closer to the water…

and then, with one little finger still holding on, he ventured even closer to the water…

and, then, success!

I didn’t get pictures of it but he ended up letting the waves wash over his feet and loved it!

After the beach we hopped in the pool and, well, it was no competition for favorite.  Somebody get this boy some floaties!  Beach Pool baby, beach pool baby, out in the sun!
