Back to school!
The boys started school this week and so far, so good! Maxwell was excited about his first day of 4K in Ms. Edwards’ class. He’s going 4 days a week this year Monday through Thursday – big stuff! Spencer was sure to give him a goodbye kiss – and slight choke hold! – on Monday morning before he left…
Maxwell was proud to be sporting his new orange shoes!
He had a great first day – even if he told me he only played by himself all day. đ Â I don’t think that was entirely true! It will be an adjustment this year not having Max or Lila in his class but I know he’ll make new good buddies in no time.
On Tuesday, Spencer got to have his first day of school! He’s in Ms. Betsy’s class this year and is only going Tuesday and Thursday. I really wanted him to go 3 days a week but the only option was Monday, Wednesday, Friday and I didn’t want Spencer to go Friday if Maxwell wasn’t going to go. So, Tu/Th it is and both boys will be home together on Fridays to play with each other.
Spencey wasn’t nervous or hesitant about school at all. And he was pretty proud of his new “geen” shoes!
Spencer had a good first day too – even if he told me he didn’t play with anyone, didn’t eat lunch, and didn’t go on the playground! ha! I’m thinking none of those things are true!  đ  I did get the most awesome email from his teacher that night.  She said, “Spencer, as always, had a great day!  I have to tell you he has the BEST belly laugh I have ever heard.  He gets to giggling and just canât stop!  Makes me crack up!  I love it!” That sure made me happy. My little buddy really does have the BEST laugh!
I sure do love these boys and am so grateful they have such a wonderful school to attend.

More birthday
Maxwell is basically having the never ending birthday. He had his party with Susan, his friend party, and then we still had to celebrate his actual birthday plus celebrate his birthday at school! Phew…turning 5 is fun!
On the morning of Maxwell’s 5th, he had a giant surprise waiting for him in the kitchen!
Leonardo was there to play ninja all day! ha! Spencer quickly claimed the other balloons as his because, as he told us all day, “it’s MY birfday!”
We even had a special “5” breakfast!
Maxwell then had to get dressed up and head to church to share his big day with Samantha. I don’t think it really bothered him because it just meant he got to play with his cousins, Katie and Anna, after church. He couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present than that! He requested a “brownie cake” instead of regular cake and, thanks to a springform pan, I was able to make that happen!
He sure was happy to blow out that “5” candle! Maxwell started school the next day so on Wednesday we sent him to school with a birthday treat for all of his friends. He told me on Monday afternoon that he really wanted Spiderman cookies….ummm…those definitely seemed above my pay grade when it came to cookie decorating! But, with a little help from YouTube, I figured it out and ended up with some pretty cool looking Spidey cookies if I do say so myself!
The most important thing was that Maxwell thought they were awesome and even “tasted better than he thought they would!” ha!
He had a great school birthday and even got a crown made out of his favorite colors!
I sure do love this little 5 year old and loved getting to celebrate him over and over!
Brothers
We have so much going on around here! Samantha turned 7 months, we had her baptism this weekend with tons of family in town, and school starts today! Phew! Lots of fun stuff! I’ll get to it all as quickly as I can but today I’ve got some funny brother pics for you.
I’m always trying to get a good picture of the boys together. Except, on this day I was wanting pictures of just Maxwell for this birthday. Obviously the one time I didn’t want Spencer in the pictures is the one time he wanted to be in all of them! ha!
Maxwell had no problem giving him a little shove to get him out of the picture…
But Spence just came right back! he wanted to be 5 too!
Maxwell was quick to tell him that he was only 2!
Spence did his best to get those 2 fingers up!
5 and 2! yay!
I kept trying to take pictures of Maxwell and Spence kept sneaking in…
So, I finally said it was his turn and took some pictures of just him!
He still really wanted to be 5. đ

First, Happy Birthday to the wonderful Mrs. Susan today! We hope it’s a Fantastic Friday for you!
Second, On Sunday, Maxwell will be 5! How did we get to FIVE?! It’s all gone too fast…
Just born…
One year old…
Two years old…
Three years old…
Four years old…
and now FIVE YEARS OLD!
I don’t know how to describe how much I love him. I’m just amazed at how smart and curious and sweet he is. He loves tigers and fire trucks and wants to learn as much about everything as he possibly can. He’s super observant of the world around him and always taking in information that he’ll ask me about later. He’s sensitive and a people pleaser and wants to do things right. He’s a rule follower and does not like to get into trouble. He’s precocious – so precocious. He talks to my adult friends (and really any adult) in such a mature way – definitely beyond his little 5 years! He loves his buddies – Lila, Max, Towns – but his brother and sister are total tops in his book. Baby Mantha might be his most favorite person on this earth and he would rather play with Spencey than anyone else. He’s caring and kind and thoughtful. He is such a good, good kid.
And while he is FIVE…
he’s still just five and that’s still little. He’s so mature for his age that I often have to stop and remind myself that he’s ONLY five and he’s still got a lot of growing up to do. I’m just doing my best to enjoy every second.
