Summer fun

July 7, 2020

As I mentioned yesterday, we finally have a pool to go to! BIG excitement around here! We got to join a country club and it’s been so so SO great! These kids have been loving that pool life these past two weeks!!

Finally getting to hang out with friends has been fantastic as well!

These kids have quickly and fully embraced the club life and already know how to order their own lunch, including razzles for dessert!

We also did our tour of the whole club last week and got to dress up more than we’ve dressed up since March 13th! ha!

Even after only 2 weeks we can definitely say it’s been worth the wait! Here’s to many fun years ahead!

Independence Day

July 6, 2020

We had a great and low-key 4th of July. This is the first 4th in 8 years that we’ve been in Birmingham! The kids and I spent most of the day at the pool.

Why, yes, they are dressed in red, white and blue! Thanks for noticing! Β πŸ™‚

That night we made a good summer vegetable dinner, watched Hamilton (most of it anyway), and caught a big fireworks show from our window! A great way to spend the day!

more cuts

July 2, 2020

I guess I should have also mentioned that I got a haircut yesterday. A pretty major one too. 7 inches gone!!

haircut

I don’t think my hair has been this short since I was 18! I hadn’t had it cut since January and it was needing a major update. Change is good…I think!

Sand Dollars

June 30, 2020

One day at the beach the water was very shallow at least 50 yards out. As we were walking out, not only did a dolphin swim within 20 feet of us, but we realized we were walking on hundreds of sand dollars! We gathered some up and took them back and had a fun science experiment learning how to dry and bleach them. We soaked them in fresh water…

Let them sit in a bleach solution for 10 minutes and dried them…

and then painted them with glue to help them harden.

We ended up with about 260 of them!

We now have them all in a bowl at home – pretty cool!
