After doing our candy house on Saturday, we also got to go decorate gingerbread houses at the club on Sunday! Fun all around!
I’d say they all did a great job…
and all wanted to eat them when we got home! ha!
They quickly learned that this type of gingerbread is pretty hard and crunchy and not great for eating. I’m thinking we need to make some gingerbread cookies soon! Lots of holiday fun!!
My very favorite Christmas tradition – the candy house! Previous candy houses here – 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012.
I’m not sure who looks forward to doing it more, the kids or me! But, for the first time, I stepped away and let the kids really do it all. I helped spread some icing and finished off one side when they lost steam, but I did my best not to intervene and let them use their creativity! Not gonna lie, it was hard…very hard! But, they did not disappoint!!

I took the boys up for their annual checkup on Monday. They were thrilled…
ha! But, 8 and 10 year old visits are pretty easy. No shots, no nothing really – especially when you are healthy and growing like these boys!
Maxwell is 54.5 inches tall (41st %)and 65.8 lbs (27th %). Maxwell grew 2.5 inches and gained 8 lbs! Dr. Walley was super impressed with his growth and said the year between 9 and 10 doesn’t usually show this much growth so that’s a great sign for Maxwell! Hooray! I think it was all that football conditioning! 🙂
Spencer is 51 inches tall (50th %) and 58.2 lbs (55th %). That’s a gain of 2 inches and 5 lbs from last year. Also impressive! Maxwell at age 8 was 50 inches tall and 52.4 lbs so quite a bit lighter.
They are both steadily growing just as they should. Will be interesting to see who ends up taller!

On Saturday night, Robert went to watch the Alabama game with some friends and Maxwell went to ride go carts for his friend’s birthday!
The rest of us decided to have an Ss only dinner!
I couldn’t ask for better dates on a Saturday night!
