Maxwell was invited to 9th grade Honors Night. He worked so hard all year and earned those straight As! I wish Spencer could have gone as well because he worked just as hard but ended up with a B in Advanced Math with Mrs. Hogan – still an accomplishment to be proud of!!

I knew he would be getting the All As award and also the Students Organized for Service Award for completing 100+ community service hours. What I didn’t know is that he would be getting one of the two biggest awards of the night – The Spartan Award. This award is nominated by the teachers for the student that “demonstrates the highest level of character, service, and leadership for MBJH.” 🥹

Wow, wow, wow. Out of 350 students in the 9th grade, they chose Maxwell. I know how hard Maxwell works and the good decisions he makes on a daily basis but to have someone else recognize that as well is pretty special. It has been a fantastic three years at the Junior High for him and I’m so thankful for all of his teachers and the school.

To say I am proud is an understatement. All As, 100+ hours of service, and the Spartan Award!

I love him so much and am just glad I get to be along for the ride.

After Maxwell’s painting won first place in the school art show, we got an invitation that his artwork had been selected as a finalist in the first annual Visual Arts Invitational! This is a new competition sponsored by one of the wonderful art teachers at MBJH, Mr. McGowan. He partnered with other schools to create the competition. The judges were Samford professors and all of the art was displayed at the Samford Art Gallery. Sadly the awards were the same night as the dance recital so I didn’t get to go but Robert and GJ got to!

Maxwell got 3rd place for painting in the senior division! Go Maxwell!

Maxwell was also named “Most Artistic” in the yearbook for 9th grade!

Like last year, Maxwell went on the LEAD retreat at Camp Mac as a member of Spartan Council. He was the leader of the Blue group and I was so proud of all that he did to prep for the retreat…you already saw the team reveal…and after that he made an awesome sign and the best snowman centerpiece ever!
