Second, It’s beginning to look a lot like FALL! We went to the mini pumpkin patch in the parking lot of Mountain Brook Baptist and picked out a few good looking pumpkins.

My birthday!

October 16, 2014

I turned 36 last week…ugh. But, I had a GREAT birthday so I’m not wallowing in pity over my old age. I heard from lots of sweet friends, had plenty of cupcakes, received some nice gifts, and got to love on these sweet boys.

birthday

In addition to all of that, know what made my 36th so GREAT? Well, we bought a house that day! Yep, we made an offer on an awesome house on my birthday and got through all of the negotiations and inspections this week. Unlike last time, this is really happening and I’m so excited I could stick my face in a cupcake!

This sign is up in our yard and we’re gearing up for a VERY busy few months…

for sale

I mean, I might be legit crazy because no sane person would sell her house, move into a new house and have a baby all within a non-stressful 3 month holiday period, right? Oh well…it’ll get done!  Here’s to 36 and to new adventures!

Never mind!

June 16, 2014

So, we’re no longer moving.  We pulled out of the deal on the new house on Friday morning and are staying where we are!  On Thursday, Inspector Dave came and spied a few things with his little eye…

i spy

that made us back out. There were mold/mildew issues, moisture issues with the foundation, and sewer issues. Not to mention the fact that our cars wouldn’t fit in the 2 car garage! What?! That left us with zero parking space and a major issue to get 3 cars in and out every day. Plus, there was major work we were going to have to do on the yard.  All of that added up to the very easy decision to back out. Luckily we were still within the 8 day window so we were only out the costs of the inspections…which were worth every penny!

The good thing of all of this? It forced us to really get our current house cleaned up!  I’m glad we’re staying…this is where we should be right now!

See you tomorrow!

It’s really happening!

June 11, 2014

So, this went up in our yard yesterday…

for sale

Eek! No turning back now! Within an hour of the sign going up, our agent got a call from another agent wanting to come do a “preview” for an out of town client.  And so it begins!  The photographer came and took pictures for the MLS yesterday as well.  Keeping the house spotless and completely tidy is going to be some work – not to mention having to get out of the house whenever someone wants to see it!  But, hopefully it will sell fast and we won’t have to worry about that very long.  And, of course, I have great helpers to assist in the tidying, inside and out…

helpers

Let’s just say 1 of those helpers is really useful…the other 2 not so much (but they sure are cute!).

Weekend

May 23, 2014

Finally catching up on last weekend as I was out of town Sunday night through Tuesday night.  It was a good one so worth recapping!  On Saturday morning, I got up and went to a cross-fit competition that my gym, Iron Tribe Fitness, puts on every year called Tribal Wars.  This was my first year competing and we just did it to have fun.  We definitely had fun and worked HARD. If you want to see some pics from the event, you can check them out here and here.  There’s a few of me in there including a really lovely one in album two.  🙂  Not the most flattering faces but I was pretty proud of myself for completing it all.  We did three different workouts over the course of several hours.  I was glad to have a good cheering squad for the first workout…

I was there from 7am until about 3pm.  My cheerleaders unfortunately couldn’t stick around because Robert had to take the boys to Towns’ birthday party. There was no way they were going to miss out on cupcakes!

After working out all day, I couldn’t wait to get home and do nothing.  But, I pulled into the driveway to see this!

mulch

5.5 yards of mulch delivered from Cahaba Heights Hardware that needed to be spread out into all the beds.  It just looked exhausting.  I then went inside and found skinned knee #1…

and skinned knees #2 and #3!  It had been a rough afternoon apparently!  🙂

Thankfully, after a little snack and some Frozen, these two little guys were happy to be back out playing in the mulch pile.  I’m glad someone enjoyed it!

We didn’t get it all done on Saturday but got it finished up Sunday morning and it makes the yard look so good!

While we were out there, we also cleaned up and swept the sand table area and got it looking about as good as it’s ever going to look…

That lasted approximately 3 hours.  🙂

That night, I hopped on a plane to go to Chicago for work.  I had two days full of conferencing and good chit-chatting with some of these great people…

Back home, Susan and Robert held down the fort.  Robert took Spencer up to Children’s bright and early Monday morning for another speech evaluation (let me tell you, I HATED that I couldn’t be there to go! But, I had called Friday to get something scheduled and they had this one available appointment Monday morning and then the next one wasn’t until JULY!).  While the state funded Early Intervention program that we have been doing is fine, I decided we needed to seek some more intensive/private therapy for Spencey. I just want to give him every advantage. The evaluation went great and it was, once again, confirmed that he has no issues with understanding or comprehension, he’s just delayed in getting the words out – which is great, relatively speaking.  So, we’re going to start doing therapy there and see if we can’t get him saying something besides Nana!  🙂

Overall, it was a great weekend and trip but I couldn’t wait to get home to my little superheroes on Tuesday night.

Really looking forward to the long, restful weekend ahead.
