Do you wanna build a snowman?

December 11, 2017

So, the forecast was calling for a light dusting of snow Friday morning. I didn’t pay that much attention to it and rolled my eyes a bit when they called on Thursday night to say school was delayed school until 10:00 the next morning. I got up and went to the gym early and a few flakes were falling from the sky. It was pretty and I knew the kids would like it. When I got home I ran outside to get a picture of the house in snow as I didn’t know how long the snow would last.

I took this at 6:45am…

It started coming and didn’t stop! I then took this picture at 7:45am…

It snowed all morning long! I took this picture at 10:45am…

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! We ended up getting about 4.5 inches! The kids were obviously thrilled and couldn’t wait to get out and play in it. It was the perfect snow too – light and fluffy without much ice on the roads. Thankfully I had bought snow suits for the kids last year so we were all prepared! They geared up and headed out in to play!

I took about a million pictures of them building snowmen (4 in total!), playing with the neighborhood kids, throwing snowballs, and basically having the most fun ever. I’m just going to put all the pictures up so enjoy all these scenes from our fantastic snow day!

And that was just the morning fun! They went back out in the afternoon for more snow play! Don’t worry, I have pics of that too. 🙂

Yard update

June 21, 2017

Considering we re-did our front yard a full year ago, guess it’s time I showed some pictures of it, huh? When we moved into this house, the front yard was basically an overgrown forest – tons and tons of trees.

trees

It made me feel like I was living in the dark so we decided to cut down those trees! It was a tough and scary decision but definitely the right one. We took down about 13 trees total – it was a big job! And my crew was loving all the action!

Maxwell’s baby face here…I cannot believe that was only 1 year ago. Also, Samantha’s face! ha!

It was a mess for several days – and I think made all of our neighbors really nervous about what in the world we were up to!

trees

It was awesome when the trees were down all the light started pouring into our windows and we could actually see the sunset from our bedroom!

Once the trees were cleared, the landscaping came and we had lots of good supervisors!

Then we got sod! woohoo!

We were so pleased when it was all said and done – and I think our neighbors were pleased too!

About two months later we also cleaned up the side of the yard to finish the project…

It was a huge undertaking but I’m so glad we did it. Taking out all those trees just opened the house up and the kids love to run and play in the grass in the front. A year later and still looking good…

I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!

It’s looking a little spooky around here!

As Spencer said, “Don’t worry, they’re just pretend. They’re happy ghosts!”

Phew. We like happy ghosts!

Also, seeing this picture makes me realize I’ve never told the full story on our front lawn redo. I will get to it someday but, this right here is why we did it…
