Backyard project

March 26, 2019

Last summer we ended up getting some new neighbors – GJ and Daddo! The house directly behind us went on the market and, even though they weren’t planning on buying a house here, the situation was too perfect to resist! With them right next door, it made sense to finally do something to our backyard so we could connect the two houses and clean up all the unusable parts of our yard. Here are the befores:

See that pole up there? Yea, that pole delayed our project by several weeks because we could NOT get the comcast people out to remove it. It was the most frustrating part of the entire process.

There was a lot of dirt around for a long time and, yes, this is when we had our awesome mud party!

and the afters! We gutted out an entire area of yard that was nothing but poison ivy and sticks and put in an awesome parking pad. Now we’ll have plenty of space for 16 year old drivers to park their car someday! πŸ™‚ We also took out the beds and put down more sod, got rid of the falling down fence, and put up an entrance between our yard and GJ and Daddo’s new house! We have a gate that we will hang there eventually, but it’s nice for the kids right now to just have it open.

Party ready

October 16, 2018

As I mentioned yesterday, we had the house party ready for the big 40th celebration. We’ve been checking things off of our to do list for weeks and got so many projects completed. I’m pretty proud of how nice everything looked for the party!

One of the biggest projects was finally fixing up Samantha’s old nursery and turning it into the office/homework room it should be!

And finally getting all my Christmas cards from the past 10 years framed and hung! Love this so much!!

40th partay!

October 15, 2018

Well, we definitely got fancy and threw a super fun party to celebrate FORTY! Woohoo! I had been planning this party in my head for over a year and it all went off even better than I could have hoped. The weather ended up being perfection that night and it all added up to a fantastic celebration! I started the day getting my hair did and, I must say, it was looking pretty good!

Then we got the house party ready! We’ve gotten so many projects done over the past several weeks and the house was basically as clean as it’s ever going to be with flowers all around. I’ll share house pics tomorrow!

We were ready for fun and the kids were ready for a fun sleepover at our new neighbor’s house – GJ and Daddo!

One of my besties, Lyndsay, even came in from Nashville for the party!

The party was catered by Shindigs and they were outstanding. The food was insane and the drinks were never empty. I also hired a magician to come do tricks all night for small groups. He was unbelievable!

It really was a special night and I felt so loved that so many people took time out of their lives (and got a babysitter!) to come and celebrate me. I don’t take that lightly and am so appreciative for all the great friends and family in my life.

Big girl room

June 27, 2018

I promised to share pics of Samantha’s big girl room and I’m living up to my promise! They aren’t the best pics – but it is the BEST room!

This is what it looked like in the beginning…

Then we got those closets built out…

and then we finally FINALLY got the awesome mirrored doors in!

The beautiful hardware for the doors!

Now it’s all finished and might be the best room in the house! The nightstands and bookcase were in my room growing up! Perfect!
