Santa!

December 17, 2015

On Monday night, we put on our Christmas smiles and headed to see Santa! We saw him up at The Club just like last year and the year before that. My crew was looking holiday sharp!

The boys were excited to see Santa and practiced what they were going to tell him they want. When we got there, Maxwell went right on up and sat on his lap – but you could see how stiff and nervous he was!

santa

Sweet boy. He told Santa he wants Legos – lots of Legos!  🙂

Like last year, Spencer got a bad case of stage fright! This is a close to the jolly man as he would get! He did manage to tell him he wants a green excavator though.

Samantha surprised us all and sat contently on Santa’s lap for quite a while!

santa

She didn’t tell Santa anything but the boys think she wants a baby doll.

After our visit, we were the first ones into the ballroom for the Jingle Bell Buffet!

Candy House

December 16, 2015

The candy house! One of my very favorite Christmas traditions! We might have been feeling pretty puny this weekend, but I wasn’t going to let the sickness spoil all the holiday fun! I had three – well, maybe just two – eager helpers ready to decorate! As the boys get older, it gets more and more fun. Here’s the previous candy houses – 2014, 2013, 2012

This year, we started out with plenty of candy…

plenty of good decorators…

and plenty of taste tests of the icing to make sure it was just right!  🙂

We then got to decorating! As always, just as much candy was eaten as was put on the house! Tis the season!

Poor Samantha wasn’t feeling very good at all so we thought a Christmas tree Peep might make her a little happier!

it worked!  🙂

By the time it was all done, these boys had a whole lot of candy piled onto that house…

and a whole lot of candy piled into their belly!

But, I think they did a great job. Best candy house yet, I’d say!!

It’s beginning to look….

December 11, 2015

a lot like Christmas! We’ve been making it merry around here the past two weeks! I actually had all the inside decorations up right before we left for the mountains for Thanksgiving. I knew time was going to get short when we got back so I was happy to come home to a decorated house! We moved into this house December 15 of last year and didn’t really decorate so it’s been fun this year finding new places for everything. I did decorate our banister this year and love it!

and you know I LOVE having FIVE stockings to hang this year!

We got our tree the week after Thanksgiving. We were hoping to have a family outing to get it, but with rain coming and everyone busy, Maxwell and I just decided to stop off after school one day and pick one out. My helper chose the best one! Robert and I almost killed ourselves trying to get it in the stand and up in the house that night but, we got it in. (note to self – throw away that terrible 4 screw stand and stick with the cheapy one!)

We finally got it decorated and I think it’s the best one yet!  🙂

We also got some more wreaths for outside so there’s a wreath for every window!

We also have bows galore and a fancy mailbox all thanks to Susan!

I got the lighted garland up – and had a good helper for that too!  🙂

I just love Christmas and how full the house feels with joy and anticipation!

The weekend

December 8, 2015

Good news, Spencer woke up Monday feeling SO much better! I even got a few belly laughs at breakfast! Thank goodness!

spencer

Other than dealing with a sick Spence, we actually had a great weekend. We delivered some Christmas goodies to friends, cleaned out closets, and enjoyed the pretty weather. We also watched some football! Samantha kicked back and enjoyed the game…

and Robert enjoyed getting to watch with his little sidekick!

She was quite the cheerleader…

and gave the final score a thumbs up!

SEC Champions! Roll Tide!

On Sunday afternoon while Spencer and Samantha slept, Maxwell and I walked over to the Christmas Parade in the village. It was fun and they threw out candy which Maxwell obviously loved. 🙂 The parade ends on a high note with Santa on the fire truck!

Well, Maxwell told me that it’s actually just one of his helpers and not the real Santa. I think he’s right!

I loved some one on one time with my buddy!
