Thanksgiving recap

November 28, 2011

Welcome back everyone!  Hope you all had a lovely holiday.  We had a great Thanksgiving…even if it was a small crowd.  Robert’s parents, Granddad and Lou Lou, came over for the day and I cooked us a Thanksgiving feast.  It was my first time to make all of my mom’s traditional Thanksgiving foods and I think everything turned out delicioso!…but I guess you’ll have to ask Robert, Lou Lou and Granddad if that’s really true!  🙂

Just as I thought it would, Maxwell and Susan’s little turkey made a great centerpiece!

While I was pretty proud of all the food I made, I think I was most proud of the homemade rolls (my mom’s rolls are a bit legendary in our house)…

and the pecan pie with handmade pie crust…

Yum!  I’m stuffed again just looking at it!

Maxwell was a peach all day and even took 2 naps for us.  While he was just as happy as could be, he clearly wasn’t into having his photo taken…

Solemn face #1…

Solemn face #2…

Solemn face #3…

And solemn face #4 with cousin Liz who stopped by….

I think he just didn’t want to have to stop playing to “say cheese!”  We got plenty of smiles after lunch though when he took his lawnmower outside to do a little work…

Fun times up and down and up and down the driveway!

It was a very happy Thanksgiving!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I made all of my mom’s recipes and they turned out great, if I do say so myself. Full Thanksgiving coverage to come but, right now, I’m too full to type.  Enjoy some more hat pics and we’ll see you Monday!

Gobble Gobble

November 23, 2011

Who’s ready for Thanksgiving?  We are!  Well…we will be after I make the turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes and pie!  To get everyone in the spirt I’ve got some turkey pics today.

First up, Maxwell’s turkey outfit…

Unfortunately he was much more interested in playing with his Little People man than showing off the feathered friend on his chest…

Not to worry, I’ll get another chance to photograph it on Thanksgiving day!

Next up?  Maxwell’s awesome turkey that he made at schoool…

I especially like how the eyes are more than a little askew and the legs are not at all aligned with the head.  My little Picasso!  I’m also just going to guess that he had a LOT of help with making that!  🙂

*side note – google the word askew.  Funny, huh?

Finally, here’s the AWESOME turkey that Maxwell and Susan made.  She’s so crafty…

Maxwell is very proud of this little guy.  It’s been sitting on our mantle for the past two weeks and whenever we ask him where the turkey is he points and smiles!

I’m thinking this little turkey is going to make a great centerpiece on our Thanksgiving table tomorrow!  Gobble Gobble!

Boo part 2!

November 2, 2011

Continuing on with Halloween…Robert and I and our little cheeseburger headed over to the neighborhood parade to see all the festivities.  Last year, Maxwell was an itty bitty baby in my sling at the parade.  This year, he was walking around and taking it all in!  He really didn’t quite know where to look first.  He then decided that if there was going to be a parade, he should be the Grand Marshall!  So, he walked right out into the street in front of the first float and got things started!

Once all the floats started coming he was loving it!

Having a pixie stick for each hand didn’t hurt either!  (even if he was just chewing on the plastic. they were wrapped!)

It was all big fun…

But Maxwell’s favorite parts were definitely this little red football that “he” caught (and ate)…

and seeing the fire truck that ended the parade.  He went wild for that fire truck!

Even with all the candy around, Maxwell still chose his beloved Cheerios over everything else.  He’s so healthy (and Momma didn’t unwrap any of the candy for him!)  He was even nice enough to share his snack with Robert…

By the time the parade was over my cheeseburger was turning into a crab cake…

so we headed home to regroup and play with our toys from the parade like these super cheap, plastic fangs. Maxwell clearly wasn’t scared by them at all and was just trying to figure out how he was going to get the Cheerio into my mouth with these big teeth in his way…

Once the fangs were out, he got the Cheerio in!

I love my little cheeseburger.

I then tried to get a picture of Maxwell in front of our pumpkins like this one from last year…

But all I got was this…

Ha!!  that picture just makes me laugh.  He looks like some poor little chubby kid that’s eaten WAY too much Halloween candy!

This one’s a little better but not smiley, oh well…

After that, Maxwell’s future potential girlfriend, Chiles the Owl, came over and we tried to get a cute picture of the two babies…it didn’t go so well either.

We then headed out around the neighborhood to see all the trick-or-treaters…

and ended up at a friend’s house where Maxwell found this…

Score!!

It was a very happy Halloween!!
