Just like a fish

June 4, 2012

We had a great weekend around here. The sun was shining and it wasn’t nearly as hot as it has been. So nice! Well, until 4:00 on Sunday when a thunderstorm popped up and it hailed more than I’ve ever seen. By the time it was over 15 minutes later, our yard looked like it was covered in snow and my car was covered in dents. Joy.

Enough of that, on to more fun things! On Saturday morning, Maxwell and I went for his first swim lesson at the Y. The point of the classes is really just to get him used to being in the water and maybe teach us both a few safety lessons!

Here we are…all ready to go!

During the 30 minute class we practiced blowing bubbles (Maxwell wasn’t so good at that yet)…

Kicking (he was a master at that!)

and putting his head under water (he surprisingly didn’t mind that at all!).

Overall I think we both had fun! One interesting thing to note – the pool is saline, not just chlorine. I confused this and thought it meant the pool was going to be salt water like the ocean. While you can taste a little salt, it’s very diluted and actually nice. They say it’s better for the skin too! I’ll take that!

Here’s to a summer of fun in the pool!

Paci-free

February 9, 2012

I haven’t mentioned this on the blog yet because I think I didn’t want to jinx it but…we are a paci-free household!  Hooray!  About 3 weeks ago when Maxwell was cutting his molars, I noticed that he wasn’t sucking on his pacifiers at all – just chewing on them.  I knew we needed to get rid of them eventually so I thought I’d just take them off the Pacimals and see what happened.  Well, I’ll tell you what happened…nothing!  Maxwell just continued on like he never had them!  I’ve still got a few pacifiers laying around in drawers but he hasn’t had one in several weeks!  I don’t know if I was really thinking it would be hard to get rid of them but I never thought it would be this easy!

I will say – this is one more reason I think the Pacimals (here and here) are fantastic.  We took off the paci but he still has his lovey.  Perfect!

So, here’s to seeing no more paci-face…

and lots more silly faces like these!

ps – please check out the picture below.  Maxwell was only 2 weeks old with the same paci as the picture above.

Oh my sweet baby.  That paci was as big as his head!!

Reports

January 24, 2012

A few reports:

Report 1 – Big news around here! After riding backwards his entire life, Maxwell is now facing forward in the car.  It’s like a whole new world!

I think he likes it!  and I love being able to just turn around and see his smiling face!  🙂

Report 2 – his Jumpin Jack shoes are still awesome.

ps – the pic above was clearly pre-haircut!

pps – his pants are still too short.

Report 3 – Maxwell is wiping this house clean out of toilet paper…

Report 4 – Maxwell doesn’t discriminate when it comes to rolled paper. Toilet paper or paper towel…he’ll clean you out of both!

Report 5 – Maxwell loves wearing hats. Inside, outside, everywhere. If he finds one of his hats in the house, he’ll bring it to me to put on his head and he’ll wear it all day.  Examples…

Report 6 – Maxwell ate at the big table and really liked it I think.  He even used a spoon to put a small amount of food in his mouth and a large amount of food all over the table…

Report 7 – Maxwell said Momma clear as day…several times.  This kid is all Dada this and Dada that every day, all day.  He NEVER says Momma but them, in the middle of his dinner, he just looked at me and said it. He then said it again several times that night. It was awesome…and he totally should have been asking me for a new car because I would have given him pretty much anything he wanted at that point.  🙂

Report 8 – Look who can still fit in the beloved sling?

Report 9 – My buddy is cute.  That’s all.

That’s all the reports I have for today!  Have a good one!

Haircut!

January 16, 2012

We had a good weekend – and it’s not over yet!  Thank you MLK for the day off!

One thing I learned this weekend – cutting molars is the PITS!  Maxwell must have all of his molars coming in at once because he is miserable.  The poor guy is clearly in pain and drooling like I’ve never seen.  Sleep just didn’t happen on Saturday night – for him or me.  He did get a nap in on Sunday afternoon but it was while laying on me in the rocking chair.  Let’s all just hope those darn teeth come on through quickly because I’m not sure how much more of this we can take.

In other news – Maxwell got his first haircut!!  We went to Jean Anne at The Hair Studio and she was great.  She gave him just a trim, just like I wanted. His hair is shaped up, out of his eyes and he’s looking sharp…but because she didn’t cut off those curls he’s still looking like my baby!  🙂

One last shot of his shaggy do…

And we were ready to go…

A snip snip here…

A snip snip there…

Jean Anne was so sweet…but I guess that’s just how you are when you look at life through rose-colored glasses!  🙂

Maxwell was wholly unimpressed with the whole operation…

But we took snacks and Nanner to entertain and keep him happy…

The whole process didn’t even take 5 minutes and went great.  Phew!  When we got home, Maxwell was proud to show off his awesome new do!

I think he likes it!

I do too!

On the porch

October 13, 2011

I don’t know if I can officially call Maxwell a walker yet because he still prefers to crawl but, he can definitely walk when he wants to!  He sticks his arms straight out like Frankenstein and it’s just the cutest thing ever.  We always cheer for him after he walks and he just beams with pride!  What’s that?  You want to see his Frankenstein walk?  No problem!  Just click here and here!

Watch out world, here comes Maxwell!!  🙂

In other news, there is no news…and no real story behind these pictures.  I just thought he looked cute in his tractor suit with his red shoes so I got out my camera.

He didn’t really feel like smiling but I didn’t mind…

Especially since I managed to get a little one out of him anyway.

I have my ways.  🙂

See you tomorrow!

Would love to hear from you! 4 Comments
