Last soccer game

May 31, 2016

A week ago Sunday, Spencer (finally!) had his last soccer game. By this point in the season, Baby just thought she was on the team…

And Spencer was largely over playing soccer! There were no tears, and he ran out on the field plenty, but he wasn’t super interested in actually playing! What he was interested in was getting a trophy!  🙂

Swim lessons

May 24, 2016

Like last year, we took some swim lessons from Coach Laura to get geared up for summer. This year we did 10 full days! Monday through Friday of two weeks every day. That’s a lot of swimming – and a lot of getting 3 kids suited up and over to the pool every day!  🙂 We made it though and the kids honestly LOVED it and showed fantastic progress.

I’m going to link to a few videos in this post. You’ll have to click over to Flickr to see them.

First day in a little bit of rain. Not the best – or warmest! – of conditions but we made it.

Spencer thought everyone did good!  🙂

Over the next week, everyone kept doing good! They improved every day!

Baby still wasn’t so sure about it all and cried whenever she had to get in the pool for the first 4 lessons.

But, that all changed on Friday of the first week! She decided it was pretty fun and did great. She would stick her own head under water and really started kicking those chubby little legs by the second week!

Also, please watch this video of her walking into swim lessons. She’s so cute I could just die.

Maxwell is a great swimmer and was practicing different strokes and swimming from one end of the pool to the other. He also spent plenty of time in the pool practicing his flips and other tricks!

Spencer was working on taking a breath without stopping and keeping his feet kicking. He also practiced what to do if he gets “stuck” in the middle of the pool. Answer? put your head down and start kicking! We still need to work on it but he’s getting there.

I was so proud of all 3 of them! and I sure loved watching how much fun they all had in the pool together!

Here’s to a summer of swimming!

Graduation

May 23, 2016

Maxwell’s preschool graduation was on Thursday of last week and it was as sweet as could be! He was all dressed up for the day and looking sharp!

graduation

He had a whole host of people there to watch him graduate – GJ, Susan, Lulu, Granddaddy, and obviously me and Robert. Samantha also got to get dressed up and go with us…

dress

I smartly chose to put her in the nursery for the graduation ceremony. This was my first time leaving her and apparently she didn’t like it…at all. I think she cried the entire time we were gone. Oh well! I was really glad Miss Wiggle Worm wasn’t with us in the church!

Luckily we had won reserved seats at the front of the church in the Street Party drawing so we could actually see Maxwell throughout the ceremony. What we saw was him standing perfectly still. I mean, perfectly still. He moved his lips to sing but that was about it! My little statue! I asked him later that night if he was nervous up there and he said “no” and then I asked him why he was standing so still and not moving to the music at all and he said, “We were supposed to stand still!” Well, he’s got a point! Maxwell is nothing if not a rule follower!  🙂

Here’s the link to the whole ceremony if you have lots of free time: Graduation 2015/2016

The ceremony was very sweet and the video they showed only made me tear up a few times! A great day all around. It’s so hard to believe his time at IPC is over after 5 fantastic years. Maxwell sure has had a wonderful year with Ms. Edwards…

Now we can’t wait for the kindergarten adventures to begin!

After the ceremony, everyone came over to our house for a quick lunch and a little celebration of the graduate!

T-ball

May 11, 2016

Maxwell had his final T-ball game on Saturday. It’s been a great season! He’s really enjoyed it and had a fun experience. I took my camera up to get some team photos before the last game…

The coaches are a little fuzzy but it’s better than nothing!

I then got some fun shots of the game…lots of action! Maxwell batting, playing pitcher, and sliding into home on each run! Maxwell definitely learned a lot about the game this season – he was one of the few that really was always “baseball ready” out on the field.

They ended up playing 3 innings that game so there was one more time up to bat…

They also got trophies and a ball after the game. Can’t beat that!

Kindergarten Orientation

April 21, 2016

When we got home last week, Maxwell had a special surprise waiting on the mailbox!

kindergarten

It was his invitation to kindergarten orientation! Woohoo! We went on Tuesday and it was great.

kindergarten

Maxwell was pretty excited and it helped to walk in and see several familiar faces like Lila, Jack, Glenn, and Cate. We all sat in the auditorium at first while the principal introduced herself and all the kindergarten teachers. The kids then left with the teachers to check out the classrooms and get a little treat in the lunchroom! The parents stayed in the auditorium to learn about important things like school lunches, carpool, and what shoes to wear for PE!  🙂  We also got LOTS of good information about ways to get involved with the PTO. No surprise, I’ve already signed up! We then all went downstairs to find the kids who were having a fun time and enjoying a huge cookie. Kindergarten is off to a great start!

With Glenn and Cate…

These kids are going to hit the ground running in kindergarten!!

I’m really excited for Maxwell. I’m also a little sad. He’s growing up so fast and I’m really going to miss him next year when he’s at school. 7:50 to 2:50 is a long day! That said, I know he’s ready and I cannot wait for him to experience and learn all the fantastic things MBE is going to teach him. He’s SUCH a good kid. He’s smart, he’s curious, he’s personable…he’s READY for kindergarten!
