The big day!

February 3, 2015

So, here goes the story…. On Monday night, 1/26, I was really ready to have this baby and Spencer was having a great time decorating my big belly with stickers!

belly

That night I was lying in bed watching The Apprentice (somehow got hooked this season) texting with Hannah about how I was dreading going to the doctor the next day and having to discuss possibly getting induced. At 9:00, those fears went away when my water broke! GJ and Daddo came over to keep the boys and Robert and I headed to the hospital!

hospital

My doctor wasn’t on call but Dr. Sharp met me up there. Because it was so late – around 10pm – they didn’t start pitocin to really get labor going but instead gave me an Ambien and told me to try and get some sleep! Ha and ugh.

hospital

The next morning when Dr. Stone was there, they started pitocin around 6am. From there, things progressed almost exactly like they did with Maxwell and Spencer – although I do think she took about 2 hours longer overall to make her appearance. Samantha Keath Brown was born at 1:04pm and it was the most joyous moment ever. The entire delivery room was on a high. Because there had been some meconium in her fluid, they brought in some NICU nurses as a precaution so I think there were 6 or 7 nurses in there plus Dr. Stone and Robert. A full room! Everyone was so excited to see what the baby was. Dr. Stone pulled her out and actually had his hand over the private parts – waiting for him to pull his hand away was maybe the longest and most intense 2 seconds of my life! But, when he did and I saw GIRL, I just lost it. LOST IT. Tears immediately. Everyone cheered. It was just incredible. They tried to put her on my chest but I couldn’t even really do anything except cry. While they were getting her cleaned up I immediately called my mom. a GIRL! a dream come true. She was perfect – crying immediately, no issues at all. Yay!!

The nurse made a bow out of gauze and the celebrations of this little girl began!

Robert’s parents were already there and came in to meet her. My parents were home with the boys and brought them up around 4:00.  What fun to see them meet their little sister. Spencer didn’t want anything to do with her – or me really – but Maxwell couldn’t wait to get up on the bed with me and check her out.

They also got cookies at the hospital so they were pretty happy campers!

Post Christmas Celebration

January 2, 2015

Ok, it’s a new year but we’ve still got a little more Christmas to wrap up!

On the 27th my brother and his family were able to stop through Birmingham on their way to Jen’s parents so we got to have one more Christmas celebration!  hooray!  They came over for breakfast…

and then headed up to the playroom to bounce out some energy!

It was then time to, once again, open presents!

We then tried to get a cousin pic in front of the tree.  The big kids were obliging…

and Nate was convinced to pose but, Spencer?  Nope. He was NOT happy to be up there!

cousin christmas

Ha! Nope, not happy at all! Look at that pout!

Oh well, pouting or not, it was a GREAT Christmas and we’re so glad Nate, Delaney, Jen, Keath and everyone else was able to visit!  Merry Merry!

See you next week!

Christmas Day

December 31, 2014

First, happy New Year’s Eve!  We’ll be celebrating at home in our pj’s…that’s about all this 36 week pregnant girl can handle.

Second, continuing on with Christmas. After we checked out all of Santa’s surprises and ate some Christmas pancakes, we got ready for our Christmas visitors!  GJ came back over with Daddo and Susu and the present opening began!

Just when the boys thought all of the presents from GJ and Daddo had been opened, we told them to head up to the playroom for a big surprise!

Gymnastics equipment! A bar, 2 mats and a balance beam!  Fun!

We also raised their play table and got some chairs for them to sit in.

It was then time for some of the Montgomery crew to arrive! Lulu, Granddad, Mary Beth and Holland all showed up armed with more presents to be opened!

It was then time to eat!

For my memory, we had pork crown roast, broccoli salad, holiday rice, green beans, Lulu’s squash casserole, ham from Mary Ellen, GJ’s rolls, Mrs. Connor’s chocolate cake, and the soooo good apple cranberry cake. Quite a meal!

I’d say everyone enjoyed the meal…especially the dessert!  🙂

And just because I wasn’t in one single picture all day, here’s an iPhone pic of me Christmas night…worn out and very happy!

A very merry Christmas for sure! But we still had more celebrations to come! See you soon!

Christmas Eve

December 29, 2014

Welcome back! Another Christmas come and gone…but it sure was a good one. We got to see tons of family and make some memories in our new house. I really don’t think anything could have gone better!  Most of the decorations are already down and my empty house is looking even more empty without all the Santas sitting around. A little sad, but we’ve got lots to look forward to in the weeks ahead!  But first we’ve got to recap Christmas!

The buildup to the big day was fun all on its own. Christmas Eve we spent getting ready for Santa and hanging out with family.  We went to the 12:00 “family friendly” nativity service up at church.  The boys sure did look sweet all dressed up for church!

christmas eve

I love going to that service because the kids can come with us and they sing all the classic Christmas songs you know while telling the story of the nativity.  Both boys acted great – Maxwell was a star and Spencer got an A thanks largely to about 6 graham crackers!  🙂

christmas eve

I spent the afternoon cooking away for Christmas and was glad to have my helper to taste test everything…well, the desserts anyway!

christmas eve

That night, my family came over for some Feliz Navidad tacos and then we set out cookies, milk and reindeer food…

and then we all settled in for a long winter’s nap….

Would love to hear from you! 3 Comments
