Cousin love

August 6, 2015

What a treat we had on Tuesday! My cousin, Amy, stopped through Birmingham on the way to the beach with her husband, Birc, and two cute kiddos, Savannah and Walker. Amy is the daughter of Daddo’s brother, John. She lives in Little Rock and it was so great to have her in my town!

The kids got along great – Savannah will be 4 in December and Walker will be 2 in September so they fit right in with the boys.Β They played upstairs, ran around outside, ate some dinner and hung on the couch…

I think Savannah was a big fan of Maxwell! πŸ™‚

Maxwell didn’t mind one single bit!!

I’m so glad all these sweet kids got to meet each other. I only wish we could get everyone together more often!

summer fun

August 4, 2015

First, happy birthday to Lulu today! We loved seeing you this weekend and love you!! Have a GREAT day!

granddaddy

Second, not surprisingly, Susan has been creating a FANTASTIC summer for the kids. Every day is an adventure with Mrs. Susan! There have been visits to feed the ducks…

Trips to Bass Pro (where Spencer’s favorite thing was the fish mailbox! ha!)…

An outing to Alabama Theater to see Cinderella (the old animated version!)…

Visits to the park of course…

And as a VERY special treat, Maxwell got to go see the stage version of Mary Poppins at Red Mountain Theater. He loved it. Actually he said it was “absolutely great!”

I think his favorite part was Bert tap dancing to Chim Chimney, Chim Chimney, Chim Chim Che-ree! And he did ask me why he never gets to have a spoonful of sugar with his medicine! ha!

We love summer!

A little more Naples

July 17, 2015

When we weren’t at the beach or in the pool, we were playing with GJ, Daddo and the cousins!

naples

We were so glad that Jen was able to come over with Nate and Delaney so all the kiddos could hang out. Love these silly willies…

cousins

Trying to get a picture of all 5 of them together was comical. We had them all lined up but Spencer was not a happy camper. Check out Nate’s face looking at him! ha!

cousins

Poor Spencey just wanted Baby Mantha sitting next to him.

cousins

So, he decided to scream about it. Please look at Delaney’s face! ha!

We then moved Samantha and everyone was happy…even if they were more interested in looking at the tv than my camera!

cousins

Then, miracle of miracles, we actually got a decent shot! Smiles all around!

cousins

Well, except for Samantha who kinda looks like a blob, but that’s ok. πŸ™‚

After a fun filled week it was sadly time to say goodbye to Daddo…

and to GJ…

No matter how long we stay, every visit is too short. We’re ready to go back!

Thanks for everything GJ and Daddo! We love you!

More Naples

July 16, 2015

We were down in Naples for 5 days and when we weren’t at the beach, we were in the pool!

pool

Maxwell is definitely becoming a great swimmer. He’s getting so much better at taking a breath while swimming and can almost go the full length of the (long!) pool. He loves diving to to the bottom to pick up diving sticks and is always happy to show off his cannonball! Spencer is fearless. He can swim…but not long distances and can get himself into trouble very quickly. Too bad he doesn’t know that! ha! You have to watch him because he’ll just dive off those steps expecting someone to be there waiting for him. One thing is for sure, he loves loves loves the pool and would stay in there all day if we let him!

Samantha also got to take her first dip in the pool! Given how happy she is splashing in the bath every night, I was not surprised at all that she was just as happy splashing in the pool!

Naples

July 15, 2015

We headed down to Naples for a little vacation over the 4th of July. It was HOT HOT HOT and FUN FUN FUN with plenty of beach and pool time! The trip down was, thankfully, uneventful and I was glad to actually have Robert flying with us for this trip!

Our days were spent playing at the beach, swimming in the pool and lounging around the house! Just perfect. These boys LOVED the beach – they dug in the sand, built castles, swam in the ocean, collected shells, got buried….they couldn’t get enough.

It was super hot while we were down there but, luckily, our guys are all about the morning beach trip! We would hit up the beach around 9:00 after Samantha went down for her nap, play for an hour or two and then be back home in time for lunch…and in time to miss the hottest part of the day!

Love my little beach bums!

More Naples to come tomorrow!
