Backyard project

March 26, 2019

Last summer we ended up getting some new neighbors – GJ and Daddo! The house directly behind us went on the market and, even though they weren’t planning on buying a house here, the situation was too perfect to resist! With them right next door, it made sense to finally do something to our backyard so we could connect the two houses and clean up all the unusable parts of our yard. Here are the befores:

See that pole up there? Yea, that pole delayed our project by several weeks because we could NOT get the comcast people out to remove it. It was the most frustrating part of the entire process.

There was a lot of dirt around for a long time and, yes, this is when we had our awesome mud party!

and the afters! We gutted out an entire area of yard that was nothing but poison ivy and sticks and put in an awesome parking pad. Now we’ll have plenty of space for 16 year old drivers to park their car someday! ๐Ÿ™‚ We also took out the beds and put down more sod, got rid of the falling down fence, and put up an entrance between our yard and GJ and Daddo’s new house! We have a gate that we will hang there eventually, but it’s nice for the kids right now to just have it open.

Maskers

February 25, 2019

A few weekends ago we headed down to Montgomery for Maskers. As always, it was a fun time and this year was extra special because Spencer was a page!ย Maxwell was a page in Maskers in 2016 – pics here and here – and Spencer got to repurpose the costume. We did have to get it let out a bit though. I just kept thinking Spencer was bigger at this age until I finally realized that Maxwell did it when he was 5 and still in preschool – Spencer is already 6 and in Kindergarten so a whole year later. Duh.

Anyway, the costume was altered to fit great and, even though Spencer really wasn’t excited to wear it before leaving the house, once we got to the ball and he saw everyone else dressed up, he was totally fine!

Not only was Spencer fine, I think he actually had a lot of fun!

He did great and behaved the best out of all the boys in my opinion! His bow was impeccable and I was so proud of my sweet Spencey!

His treat after the presentation? A coke! ha!

He got a trip to Target too! ย ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a fun night with family!

Valentine Art Show

February 12, 2019

Samantha had her Grandparent Valentine Art Show and Program at school last week and it was as cute as can be! Spencer did this in 2018 and 2017. Samantha looked adorable, as always. 💗

Samantha did a great job standing up on stage nicely and “singing” her songs! ๐Ÿ™‚

Even if she did get crowded out by the girl next to her who kept standing sideways the entire program! ha!

She sure was happy to see LouLou and Granddaddy when the program was over! Big thanks to them for making the trip up!

She was also happy to get a cookie after the program! ย ๐Ÿ™‚

I sure do love these three. As I posted on Instagram on New Year’s Day, I’m excited for new adventures in 2019 but I would do 2018 all over again because I am acutely aware that these days, these ages are magical. I can’t wait to see who these kids become but I sure do love who they are right now, silly faces and all.

Anyway, back to Naples – we even shot fireworks on New Year’s Eve!

The boys picked this poop emoji firework which was a surprisingly good and dazzling choice! Who woulda thought?

Sadly, like all good things, our trip had to come to an end. We said goodbye to GJ and Daddo on New Year’s Day…

and thankfully had an uneventful flight home even with a connection in Atlanta. We’re always so glad we get to go to Naples…and we can’t wait to go back again!
