Robert and Spencer had a fun day shooting with the two Ronnies on Saturday! It was a beautiful day to spend outside.
Spencer was a pretty good shot and took down 3 pheasants!
He was pretty proud! A fun day for (most of) the boys!

We still decided to head to Naples after Christmas even if GJ was still in London. Unfortunately, our travel day did not go as planned! Our 10:45am flight into Atlanta kept getting pushed back and Delta could not confirm us on another flight until the next evening! No thank you. We tried to fly Southwest direct into Orlando and rent a car but, that flight ended up getting majorly delayed as well. By 11:30am we were standing at the airport and made the decision to cut our losses and start driving! We pulled out of the parking deck and headed to Naples!
Robert drove the whole way through – about 12 hours – and while it was a very long day and late night, we sure were happy to waked up in Naples the next morning! This only worked because GJ was coming back to Birimingham the next week and could drive my car back. Things just have a way of working out!
The beach was crazy crowded all week – and also strangely foggy for a few of the days – but that didn’t stop us! We hung on the beach, went out for excellent meals, and watched some movies at home. Can’t beat it!
Lobster at Campiello’s!
We also had several good Gary sightings!
The fog!
Samantha and Maxwell dug quite a deep hole!
We also watched the final minutes of the Bama v. Michigan game with our new friends on the beach…wish it had gone the other way!
Roll Tide anyway!
GJ arrived home late on New Year’s Eve so we all (well, most of us!) stayed up until midnight to ring in 2025! We then headed back to Birmingham on the 1st with a thankfully uneventful travel day.
It was great to end the year and start a new one in my favorite place with my favorite people!
Happy New Year!
A few other fun things from the holiday season…
Mufasa in 3D!
8th grade fun with friends…
Cousin spotting…
Special Christmas present exchange!
Lots of Christmas parties and outings with no pics but the selfie I made us take!
Playdates with buddies!
and birthday parties!
After the Rockettes, we made our way back to Columbus Circle to go to the Barbie exhibit at the Museum of Art and Design.
It was fantastic!!
They had a big collection of original Barbies and clothes from the 1950s…the same Barbie clothes that GJ had and that Samantha now has! It was fun to see all of the clothes that GJ dressed her Barbies up in!
They also had the original Barbie Dream House that GJ also had and I used to play with at Susu’s house when I was little. We don’t have that anymore so it sure was fun to see!
They even had a life size version!
They had all sorts of Barbies from each decade and it was so fun to see how the dolls and clothes evolved.
Of course the best part was the Barbie corvette!! Love it!
Samantha looks like a real Barbie!
Just call me Midge…
Aren’t we cute?!
I’m so glad we went! We then shopped a little in Columbus Circle and then walked down Central Park South to have dinner at Sarahbeth’s. On the way we ran into my old colleague…NYC is such a small place after all!
We had a fantastic dinner….
and then we made not our wisest decision to walk down to Rockefeller Center to see the tree before heading back to the hotel. The tree was pretty but, man oh man, the crowds were overwhelming!
That night we headed back to the theater to see & Juliet! It was really entertaining and Charli D’Amelio, a Tik Tok star, was in the show which Samantha thought was cool!
Such a fun, full day! The next morning we headed to the airport two hours late and missed our flight. Yep, never in my life have I missed a flight but I got the time wrong and we departed for LGA at 8:00am when our flight actually left at 8:47am. Thankfully Delta got us on a 10:00am through Atlanta and we got back to Birmingham just a few hours later than we were supposed to.
It was a whirlwind of a weekend but totally worth it! We love NYC!
We were up and going early Saturday morning and had a great brunch at Blue Dog Cafe. Samantha got the Pretty in Pink Pancakes! Perfect!
We then headed to Nordstrom where we did quite a bit of shopping. We even found this perfect coat for Samantha! While we wish we had seen it the day before, it was too good to pass up.
Samantha even got to get her fortune told by a giant silver pigeon. Only in NY!
Her fortune was for “glamour” and then she got to go upstairs and put the coin into a machine to get a ring.
My big city girl….
heading to Rockefeller Center!
We saw the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City and it was fantastic as always! The Rockettes are the very best and we loved hearing the Mighty Wurlitzer for Daddo!
Part 2 of day 2 tomorrow!
